If anyone is interested Best Buy is having a sale on some of the Beatles mono releases. Here is one where you save $20.

I have been to just about every record store in the Dallas area. Every time I look around, I see nothing by Freddy King. I then have to ask, do you have or have had any of Freddy King's records recently. The response every time is "no and I don't think I have ever seen his stuff come through here." Which shocks me considering the influence he had on the Dallas area, ESPECIALLY Stevie Ray Vaughn. So I'm chillin out at this random entertainment store and I found one of his first records remastered with a bonus disc for $7.50. This is a good example of why I will never stop going to record stores. You never know what the fuck you will find on any given day.

Got my Polk speakers ordered this morning. Found an eBay listing and won them for $100. Very lightly used but looked brand new.

I love Bill's Records in Dallas. I could spend days digging in there

I'm 100% certain the reason Bud made a commercial mocking craft beer drinkers is because they're afraid of how powerful the industry is growing. Craft beer has taken a big chunk out of Bud's market share and is continuing to grow.

And to mock a group of people as hipsters is pretty dumb in my opinion. I'm not a hipster by any means and don't like to be called one because I collect records.

    Pro-Ject possibly coming out with a $200 turntable, should be a budget-conscious winner - http://www.analogplanet.com/content/...-name-i-forgot

Possibly the first far more affordable RCM also?

That's a pretty sweet RCM entry. I've long considered one of these:
    http://www.audioadvisor.com/products.asp?dept=322

I really don't wet clean my vinyl because I'm afraid of doing more harm than good so the vacuum concept really appeals to me. But most are just incredibly out of my price range.

well, guys, i took the plunge. before these crowded streets came up on discogs last week for $150, a price i had in my head as the max i would ever pay. the seller description was : "Both pieces of vinyl are VG or better, close to VG+, but there is a few small and light surface marks or light sleeve scuffs, especially on side one that cause a few pops and ticks in just a couple of places. Gatefold cover is in great shape with light shelf and ring wear. Top left corner of cover has been lightly dinged."

the seller had good feeback and all positive comments so i went for it. got it today and the description is pretty spot on, though the cover wear is a bit more than anticipated, but still no tears or anything and i honestly i don't really care about that at all. looking forward to finally getting the opportunity to put this on the turntable. hopefully those regretful memories of having this in my hands all those years ago and putting it back on the shelf will be able to be put to bed.

Wow, very cool man! I wish I had noticed that on Discogs, I would have certainly swiped it up at that price. Great score - let us know how it sounds! I've long wondered what the source for the BTCS vinyl was. Did they just stamp the CD master on vinyl or was it mastered for vinyl?

i'm pretty sure it's just a cd transfer. there's certainly no 'mastered for vinyl...' credit in the sleeve notes. in the end, this one isn't about "the ultimate in sound quality" for me, it's just finally having it as an option in my collection.

    theres a copy on amoeba.com (http://www.amoeba.com/before-these-c...albums/988555/) for $200 i was tempted by.

I paid way more than you for a sealed promo copy a couple years ago and I have yet to regret it, even though the image of me picking a copy up in 1998 and putting it back on the rack is still seared into my mind grapes.

Probably a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway...

Got my Polk bookshelf speakers in today. The backs have four banana plug entires. Which set do I use? Top or bottom?

It doesn't matter, you can use either. There are double in case you want to bi-wire them, but it's debatable if that gives you any noticeable increase in sound quality. You can just use either/or and connect like any other set of speakers.

In addition to bi-wiring, which I believe is useless, you can also bi-amp them which I believe does have advantages. If you have a 7.1 AVR and only have a 5.1 set-up, chances are your AVR supports bi-amping.

Whoa buddy, I saw Ryan Adams last night and he sure puts on a good show. I guess to keep this vinyl related I will say there were copies of Heartbreaker at the merch table. I was hoping they'd be lugging around a few copies of the Carnegie Hall box set but no dice.

Thanks ncrstlr1! I got govt mule, Umphreys McGee and dub side of the moon.

I thought the lack of encore was weird, too. Maybe his ribs hurt too much? That was a better than usual crowd for Billings so, yeah. It wasn't even close to a sell-out but I hope he comes through again. It's nice not having to drive at least five hours to see a show that interests me.

at the ryan adams show i saw he actually said something along the lines of 'here's the part where we'd go off stage and come back for an encore, but we're just going to skip that part'. i'm guessing he just skipped the formality - looks like a lot of his shows have no true encore.

I've been helping a family friend clean up her house to get ready to move, and in lieu of paying me, she gave me a bunch of audio equipment that belonged to her late husband. Including a Kenwood KD-500 turntable and 3 tonearms; one is a Unitrac 1, another is an Infinity Black Widow, and the third is unlabeled, unmarked, and not in its original box. It's heavy as hell and I'm pretty sure it's what originally came with the KD-500.

Just thought I'd share what I've come across!

It seems like there are a growing # of musicians and groups that are skipping the encore. Too expected maybe? I kind of like it. Mastodon and before they broke up The Mars Volta and both no encore bands. Play the set, do it very well, says thanks, get out.

Um, to keep it vinyl related... I have vinyl for both groups?

Thanks ncrstlr1! I got govt mule, Umphreys McGee and dub side of the moon.
No problem, I have been watching for awhile and had a couple gift cards to use so I finally got a couple records myself. Blues Traveler - Four and Keb Mo - Blues Americana.

Thanks for the heads up on this! Grabbed Let It Be (only Beatles album I don't have on vinyl) and Dark Side of the Mule. Initially had a bunch more in my cart (all 3 Chris Robinson Brotherhood albums, another Gov't Mule) but decided to control myself a little bit.

Really wanted to grab Black Crowes 'Before The Frost...Until the Freeze' too but it was sold out.
