Not nearly as formal as the DC one, but over the past year or so all of these have started/restarted with #1 issues.

Marvel is also just starting a Secret Wars event that is very similar DC's Convergence. All the separate universes will be eliminated and at the end of the 8 issue run all the Marvel comics (Star Wars stuff excluded, I assume), will be in a new Marvel Universe called Battleworld. That might be a good time to jump in.

Besides Volume 2, are the Frank Miller Daredevil:Visionaries trades worth picking up (so Vol 1 and Vol 3)? Anyone know?

OK, now I have to pick this up after work. My brother texted me that something big happened. I'll definitely pick that up today.

My shop sold out of Star Wars :-/ Going to have to find it elsewhere.

Bought #41 Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Action Comics, Batman and Detective Comics. Now that Convergence is over I'm finally buying weekly pulls. Still behind on a lot of stuff, but the guy at my shop said its a good jumping on point.

However, I can't start Batman yet because I haven't read Endgame and I'm missing #36 & #37. I can't find these two. If anyone can help please let me know! Really want to read this ASAP!

    Re: Comic Book Discussion

Finished Batman: Endgame last weekend and loved it. I will most definitely read it again. I need to go back and reread Death of the Family. Just read Issue #41 and I'm psyched to see where the story goes.

Just hopped on board the Superman/Batman comic. the guy at my shop said the Truth arch is supposed to be really good, so I added that to the list. My list is pretty big right now.

I've been doing a lot of reading lately. Finally started my first pull list at the local shop and look forward to keeping up with the most recent pulls each week. I finally decided there's just no way possible for me to catch up on every character I want to in time to get the newest issues. Unless I take a week off from work, spend all my money on TPBs and lock myself in a room it's just not going to happen. So Convergence just ended and supposedly this is a good jumping on point for DC. My plan is to keep up with each week and just go back and read what I can when I can. I just remembered last night that I haven't even caught up to the New 52 Green Lantern. I'm still back at "Wanted: Hal Jordan". I went to start that and realized I didn't remember what was going on so just started "Rebirth" all over again. Determined to read up to the Vol. 3 GL that I have (went on a spree after my wedding and bought the entire Geoff John's run).

What a time consuming and expensive hobby!

It's been a while so I thought I'd check in. What's everyone been reading?

Picking up Superman #42 and Star Wars #7 today. So far, Star Wars and Batman are my favorites of all my pulls. Action Comics and Superman have been OK. Definitely an interesting direction they've taken with the character.

I just picked up Flash #41 & #42 last week as well as Justice League, but I haven't read them yet. Really looking forward to Justice League since Geoff Johns is still involved. I love reading his books.

I've also been reading Green Lantern, Green Arrow and Aquaman. Those are just OK so far. I'm so behind on most characters and am picking up post-Convergence. However, I'm going back and picking up the New 52 TPBs as I can afford them and trying to catch the stories I missed pre-Convergence. I was reading a lot of TPBs already, but then I decided I wanted to jump in and start reading what comes out each week. I'm STILL not up to New 52 with Geoff Johns' Green Lantern run (currently reading Sinestro War). I read the first few Action Comic TPBs, Aquaman, Flash and am caught up on Batman. So basically, I have a lot of reading currently going on. It's been really hard to keep up with everything, but I'm plugging away.

Apparently DC is planning on another "reboot" where every title is getting #1s again. So fucking stupid. The level to which both DC and Marvel comics are mismanaged is astounding.

Good grief. Can't the comics just be separate from the movies??? We have our comic book story lines that have been going since the New 52 started, then things started again with Convergence and now we have to have everything in line with the shows and movies.

Nice to see this thread resurface though!!!

It's just such an obviously cheap marketing ploy. They're constantly (like once a year) doing a crossover event that will "CHANGE EVERYTHING". Then, that event is retconned out the next year. I never bother with those major crossover stories anymore because they're irrelevant for continuity's sake so soon afterwards.

Whatever they do, they should not disrupt the Batman title. Snyder and Capullo are absolutely killing it.

I sure hope the premise is "a complete new reader can get into these characters and stories without dealing with huge, needlessly complicated, universe spanning crossovers every three months" followed by huge, needlessly complicated, universe spanning crossovers every three months.

Has anyone been following The Injection, by Warren Ellis? I picked up the trade of the first five issues and its too early to call so far, but it looks like it could potentially be a pretty fantastic series.

Agreed about Batman. I'm not sure if the latest issue is out yet (haven't picked up my pulls in a couple weeks), but I'm pretty caught up and loving Mr. Bloom. Mike, as you and I have discussed, I'm getting a bit tired of Gordon as Batman, but I think that's supposed to be coming to an end next month. I have the first couple issues of Batman Europa and I'm really looking forward to reading it when I have the time. I haven't started the newest Dark Knight yet either. I know this is sacriligious, but TDKR didn't do much for me (I love the movie though for some reason) and I thought TDKSA was awful. Has anyone started the newest TDKIII?

I had to do a serious cut to my pull requests. I just couldn't afford it anymore, and I was also having trouble keeping up with all the titles I was following. I cut Green Lantern (wasn't really into the newest storyline), Aquaman (wasn't doing it for me - Loved Johns' run at the beginning of the New 52), Green Arrow (I just had to make cuts - I was enjoying it though), Superman (stuck with Action comics) and Darth Vader.

I'm still loving Justice League, Flash, Batman, Star Wars and I'm liking Action comics.

DK III is only two issues in but I love it so far. Faithful to the original but a new spin on it. Azzarello is a great writer.

They're also releasing a prestige format one shot about the story before TDKR, about what forced Bruce into retirement. THAT is going to be absolutely killer.

Looks like Snyder may be leaving Batman and moving to Detective:

    http://www.comicbookmovie.com/comics...-title-a130302

Why not let Snyder stay in Batman and change the Detective storyline? This sounds like a bit of a cluster to me.

It really is (one of the best uses of the naive narrator device I've ever read in any medium). His Wonder Woman run is top notch too

I have been. They've been good, but the story seems a little convoluted. If I have one criticism of Justice League recently it's that it's been hard to keep track of everything, especially if you don't know a ton of backstory regarding Darkseid and his supporting cast. It has been pretty cool to see Batman in the Mobius Chair, though. Awesome moment when he finds out who the Joker is (won't give it away).

Detective Comics has been pretty good lately. It was struggling about 6 months ago but it's picked back up nicely. Really great artwork in this month's issue and it's taken a new direction story-wise. I am definitely ready for Bruce to get back under the cowl, though. Gordon has had enough time.

I dropped Detective a few months back and just stuck with Batman. But now with Snyder possibly moving to Detective I may have to switch.

JL can be tough to follow from time to time, but overall I'm absolutely loving it. Regarding Batman and The Joker, did I miss something? I know he was trying to get it narrowed down to who Joker was at the end of, was it, Issue #46 (ending where he's looking at all the screens)? But I don't recall him actually mentioning who it is. Then there's the moment at Ace. Is that what you're referring to?

Mike, you are correct. I forgot about that. That was a quick moment that I'm pretty sure was easy to graze over because something happened right after that. But there have been little nuggets dropped every now and then of Batman honing in on who it is. Is Batman from Justice League in the same universe as Snyder's Batman?

Yeah, it is, but their continuity is all out of whack now. Bruce is still Batman in Justice League and JLA but he's not in Detective Comics and the regular Batman title. It's confusing but I think it's lending itself to better stories rather than strictly adhering to continuity.

It's a bit confusing. I guess I just read JL as is and Batman as a separate entity. JL may even take place before Batman. At one point I believe that was the case. It's nice to have a Bruce Wayne Batman in JL.
