The worst part is how NASCAR puts a gag order on the commentators. They all took NASCAR's side and blamed the drivers. I understand who writes your paychecks, but there's no benefit to treating them like an omnipotent being that can do no wrong. Fans see right through that.

1) qualifying is typically free. you might have to pay if its coupled with something else, like a truck race, but then you're paying for the race and getting qualifying as a bonus. it still sucks but its unlikely you would have paid to see it.
2) at least NASCAR isn't punishing the drivers who have spoken out the last 2 weeks about the qualifying fiascoes. i think NASCAR finally realizes they need to let the drivers be more than puppets if they want viewers to pay attention. nobody wants to hear the drivers dance around the issue because they're afraid of saying something wrong.
