    Re: Favorite beer of choice?

A few thoughts from Saturday's Autumn Brew Review ...

The best beer I had was Double Shot Double Black, a BA black ale with loads of cold press and vanilla from a brewery in Duluth, MN. I'm pretty sure I've sent some of their beers to a few people on here.

It's insane how much better Abyss gets with age. There was a very noticable difference between the 2012 and 2013 versions, with 2012 being on the short list of my favorites.

I'd take Hopsoulution over any of Bell's other DIPAs.

Surly Eight was a bit of a disappointment. Todd the Axe Man was fantastic though, and one of the best hoppy beers I had all day.

Stone wasn't listed as being there, but showed with tons of Xocoveza. I thought it was going to be too peppery from the nose, but the pepper blended in insanely well. I'll definitely be picking up a few bottles this week.

Indeed brought enough Rum King to last the entire event. We ended up camping outside their tent for four pours to end the day.

I really liked it. It's El Dorado hops are unmistakable, and I happen to really enjoy those.

Had my first 90 minute from Dogfish....so tasty. And dangerous for a 9% beer. Wife hates IPA's yet said it was delicious.

So, heading home from a race this Saturday I decided to stop at a newer CT brewery OEC since I had some time to kill. Got a flight of their six drafts which were all very good along with a cidre they import which was also very good. Cool brewery, friendly people and super solid brews, I'll definitely be back.

Also, the GABF beer list is announced tomorrow... looking forward to that as I'm trying to plan the weekend a bit.

Headed to New England Brewery to grab some Growlers. Brought my roommate with me and we walked with 4 ghandi bot and one each of Sea Hag and 668. Ghandi is my favorite beer.

Also really loving Southern Tier Harvest. Just so drinkable and tasty

MBB Update: Was due out for delivery today but hit the dreaded Exception: A late UPS trailer arrival has caused a delay. We're adjusting plans to deliver your package as quickly as possible. / Delivery will be rescheduled.

I am hoping it will be out for delivery tomorrow!

GABF week is awesome but my wallet has taken a tremendous hit. I've spent at least $100 a day for the last couple days. I can't help it when I see Pipeworks, Jester King, Cascade, Cigar City, Almanac, etc on the shelves... the wife is TOTALLY stoked.

Can't say I feel really bad for you

Oh, and being able to buy Jester King, Pipeworks, and Cigar City

I forget, you going to one of the GABF sessions? I see Fremont Brewing from Seattle is coming for the first time. Hopefully they bring a couple of their barrel aged offerings or DIPAs.

Nice, I'll be getting a box loaded with Wicked Weed next week as well. Can't wait! And, I've only had 2 things from Jester King, but both were absolutely stellar. Jealous

It's an amazing week here in town. Obviously the actual event is huge and awesome but the beers brought to town we normally don't get and the special tappings at bars are amazing. It's worth the trip to anyone who hasn't ever been!

    Nice.

    http://brewtallyinsane.com/2014/09/1...2014-calendar/

For reference here is the schedule for tomorrow:

    Friday, October 3rd, 2014

Tapping Schedule, Falling Rock Tap House
    – Noon Sierra Nevada (CA) Annual Kill A Keg. This event started when we noticed that we were pouring the season’s first keg of Harvest Ale really quickly. It started us thinking, just how fast could we pour a keg of beer? The rules are pretty simple: a 15.5gal keg, 1 person filling glasses out of one faucet.
    – 1pm Boulevard (MO) )
    – 2pm New Holland (MI)
    – 3pm Anderson Valley (CA)
    – 4pm Epic (UT)
    – 9:30pm (outside) Taste of the Windy City
    – 10pm Stone (CA)
    – 10:30 (outside) Dogfish Head (DE)
    – 11pm Elevation (CO)
    – 11:30pm Epic (CO)

Falling Rock Tap House is located at: 1919 Blake St, Denver, CO 80202.

Oskar Blues Ordeal & Gospel Brunch, Begins / Ends at Falling Rock Tap House, 8 AM – 3 PM
Another round of Oskar Blues fun hits on Friday, but this time you’ll be treated to a “soul-saving Gospel Brunch”! Here’s the rundown for Friday’s Ordeal, which begins and ends at Falling Rock Tap House:

8:00 a.m. – Pick up at the Falling Rock Tap House.
9:00 a.m. – 1st Stop – Hallelujah! Arrive at our Hops & Heifers Farm for a soul-saving Gospel Brunch! Great food, live music, breakfast beers and Mama-mosas… Can I get an Amen?
11:30 a.m. – 2nd Stop – We’re drinking a REEB Rye’d IPA or a Vienna Lager—the house beers at our newest location and home of the REEB Cycles retails shop, the CyclHOPS Bike CANtina.
12:00 p.m. – 3rd Stop – Check out where all of the “other” magic happens and enjoy an ice cold root beer at our REEB Cycles fabrication shop and B. Stiff & Sons Root Beer brewery & cannery.
12:30 p.m. – 4th Stop – Time to hit the mothership! We’re picking up the tab in the Tasty Weasel tap room for (1) Oskar Blues beer (be sure to check out our rad selection of specialties and try some tasters!) and showing you around the Oskar Blues Brewery. Mix and mingle with the OB crew helping put the “RAD” in coloRADo craft beer.
2:00 p.m. – 5th Stop – We’re serving up a Cajun-style lunch and picking up the tab for (1) Oskar Blues brew at our Home Made Liquids & Solids restaurant!
3:00 p.m. – The party’s over, folks. Hop back on the bus and we’ll drop you back off at the Falling Rock Tap House!

Falling Rock Tap House is located at: 1919 Blake St, Denver, CO 80202.

Pipeworks Beer Brunch, City O’ City, 11 AM – 2 PM
Pipeworks Brewing from Chicago’s bringing their beers to Denver and they’ve got a great introductory event planned for Friday morning. Head to City O’ City for 3-courses from the kitchen and a bite from the bakery, each paired with a Pipeworks beer. Beers include Raspberry Truffle Abduction, Ninja vs. Unicorn DIPA and Saison du Soleil. Reservations are $45 and can be made by calling City O’ City at 303-831-6443. City O’ City is located at: 206 E 13th Ave, Denver, CO 80203.

Crooked Stave Artisans Tappings, The Old Mine, Erie, CO
Crooked Stave Artisans will hit the taps at The Old Mine up in Erie on Friday. The lineup’s shaping up nicely, as is the rest of the week.

    Here’s a look:

    Crooked Stave Batch 100
    Almanac Bourbon Pumpkin Barleywine

    Re: Favorite beer of choice?

Holy Balls!! If anyone is going to that Rare Beer Tasting, most of those are big or sour type beers, but don't overlook the Cowiche Fresh Hop from Fremont. It is delicious, and will be a nice change of pace from most of those beers.
