Apparently it's an injury that you can come back from pretty quickly as long as you can tolerate the pain post-surgery. We'll see.

In the mean time, the Marlins miraculously beat Clayton Kershaw today (with a little help from horrible defensive plays by the Dodgers).

They also turned this absurd double play.

did some rough math...he started running around the 0:04 mark on the video and slid across home at roughly the 0:18 mark...so 14 seconds to run 360 feet, or about 25 feet/second. whoa.

Yeah Statcast had him at like 14.3 seconds or something like that. Top speed 20.6 mph. Dude can fly.

For some reason, the Marlins always bring it against the Giants. It's inexplicable.

I just met and had a conversation down an elevator with Paul Godfrey - the President of the Toronto Blue Jays. We talked about how they lost last night, how they need some help in the bullpen. It was pretty fucking cool.

They should really change the voting so that the fans only get to choose a handful of players for the game. Alcides Escobar being in this game, let alone starting, when Iglesias and Bogaerts are playing the way they are this season is ridiculous.

There should be a player vote along with the fan vote, and the rest of the roster made up by the manager.

Mike Trout's philanthropy is pretty well-documented. He's doing it again for an 8-year-old from his hometown that's going to LA for eye surgery and will get to meet Trout while out there. This is a story I did on the kid.

Jose Fernandez just set the MLB record for most consecutive home starts without a loss to start a career. In 22 home starts, he's 14-0 with a 1.18 ERA. Video game stats.

i would love to see them just use ESPN/Yahoo fantasy rantings. whoever has the best stats has the best rating, best rating for each position starts. maybe use fan voting to fill out the rest of the team.

not just video game stats, but video game stats on "novice" difficulty setting while everybody else is playing on All-Star.
