Yes, that was us. It's been hell the past 3 weeks weather wise. It's sad that it's taken 15 lives to get the national media attention but we finally have everyone's attention. These tornadoes were deadly and could've been much, much worse. A trailer park was leveled not too far from my grandmother's house and killed 4 people and a small child is still missing.
All of my family is safe thankfully, but my grandmother was put in the hospital on Friday and it probably saved her life not being home. Her neighbor told us that they could feel the air being sucked out of their lungs as the tornado passed by a half a mile away. I couldn't believe it. I didn't know that was possible. She would've died if she was at home because she's super old and has weak lungs. This was an F3 or weak F4 they're saying.
3 weeks ago tonight my neighborhood was hit and our house had minimal damage (back porch roof was blown off) but our neighborhood doesn't look the same. So many less trees now. Cars were destroyed and there's some houses that had a lot of damage. It literally looked like a war zone. It was the most surreal thing I've ever experienced.
I would never ask for a handout and I'm perfectly fine, but there's a lot of people who have don't have anything. If you'd like to donate PM me and I'll send you a link. There's been tons of Red Cross, Samaratan's Purse, etc. settiing up relief stations around town as well.
This shit takes a toll on you and really puts things into perspective.
