Unless I'm mistaken I don't think that is their usual bass player. There are more pictures if you click the #headandtheheart hashtag.

It's 100% not their normal bassist, Chris. Not a big deal because he's totally replaceable, as evidenced by the fact that people can't tell that an obviously different person is not him. Hopefully he's ok and will be back soon though.

it's chris. he cleaned up. big deal.

here he is five days ago in europe. the 18th. the day before the above linked photo. he shaved. can't blame him. beards are cool, until they get annoying.

Nah thats not him. Another give away, besides from the fact that it looks nothing like him, is how low new guy is wearing the bass. Chris plays it pretty high

Seeing these guys on Monday at a brand new venue in Grand Rapids. One of my favorite bands on the planet and I can't wait! I've heard such mixed things about their shows since Josiah's hiatus, but I'm hopeful they will sound like the same The Head and the Heart I know and love.

I enjoyed my show. Crowd was fun, the band was really into it, and they played fine. Really all I could ask for out of a show.

Man, that's a bummer. I hope Josiah gets better and returns to the road soon. Seeing them at Bonnaroo a few years back was one of my all-time favorite concert memories. Their first album is pure gold.

    josiah is fine.

pretty shitty of them to blame him like that too.

Really enjoyed the show on Monday in Grand Rapids. Beautiful new venue called 20 Monroe Live. It just opened at the start of February. Capacity is about 2,500 I think.

The setlist skewed towards Signs of Light, but there was still a good mix from Let's Be Still and the self-titled debut. I was pumped to hear 10,000 Weight in Gold. Down in the Valley and Lost In My Mind are absolute gems, and Rivers and Roads nearly brings me to tears every single time.

The new songs aren't bad, but obviously much more poppy. It's funny because much like at a DMB show, the audience is super into the classics, but as soon as the band starts playing something more recent, half the audience immediately begins talking or looking at their phone.

I certainly hope Josiah returns to the stage at some point soon and I wish they had played a bit longer, but all in all, it was an awesome time. The Head and the Heart is one of my all-time faves and I'll keep listening and hopefully going to shows as long as they keep making music.

Was in Grand Rapids for show as well. Never saw them with Josiah...first time. Venue has promise but has some kinks to work out. It's like a month old? New songs are so much better live. Josiah's replacement didn't make any new fans when he said "how's it going Ann Arbor". The band spoke like two words to the crowd all night. Hallelujah was a highlight for me. Would trade Gone for the overplayed Shake any day. charity's vocals were impressive

All in all a great show.

Haha, yeah that was not so great.

Venue opened on Feb. 1 with Trombone Shorty as the first show! What did you think the kinks were? I'm just pumped to have another new small venue like that nearby. From where I live, GR is not much further of a drive than it is for me to get to downtown Chicago.

Matt completely flubbed the beginning to Library Magic when I saw them. It threw Jon and Charity right off. They had to restart it, there was no saving it. Probably the only flaw from my show.

Not really because everything I've heard is third party but from very close third party.

    He's okay.

I personally feel like they handled it all wrong.

Look at it this way... Do you think it was Josiah's idea to not get that tour money?

Also, they used mostly the Nashville sessions for the new album instead of the El Paso sessions (that Josiah was there for).

    I hope he goes solo.

He should go solo, it's Jon's band. Plus Charity has some more out of work friends and relatives who want to join. Look out keyboard player.
