i've had the s4's now for about four months and love them.

I've had this for about a year and it powers my AKG K701's pretty decently (and the AKG's have a pretty high impedance), so it should have no problem with the HD 448's. I use it for both my AKG's as well as for my <$40 Sennheiser earbuds. It's nice for listening to music on your computer because it's a USB DAC, meaning it by-passes your PC's soundcard completely.
so I'm reading about this amp, and it suggests that I buy a Line Out Dock cable for my iphone. do I need this if I'm using the amp to listen to my iphone? If I use this, where do my headphones plug in? To the actual iphone or the amp?

Just ordered the Sennheiser HD448's from Amazon. They're on sale for $60. Can't wait to try them out when I get back in town.

I'm going to hold off on an amp for now though.

I think I'm going to get both the 448's and the amp!

I own a pair of the Sennheiser HD448's and they sound great, but what is the purpose of a headphone amplifier? Is it worth the investment?

The HD448's have a pretty low impedance of 32 ohms so I don't think a headphone amp is really necessarily. If you listen to a lot of music from your computer, I think the FiiO E7 would definitely be money well spent because it's an outboard DAC that bypasses the computer's soundcard. And, it has a nice little bass boost EQ that will give you bit more punch if you're looking to rock out.

My brother has owned these for probably 5 or 6 years now, as long as I've had my Grado SR80's. They've held up very well and are damn comfortable, pretty amazing sound quality for the price offered now. Probably no real need for an amp, either. I imagine the FiiO E7 would do well with them, but it might not make that much of a difference.
I ended up ordering these by the way and they sound absolutely fantastic. The only problem is they're a bit bulky, but I'll get used to it.

Has anyone listened to these or own these headphones? I have had some Klipsch speakers for quite a while and love them, so I trust their products, but wondered about these particular headphones.

So my Kilpsch S4's shorted out on me in the right bud today at work. While I loved them and might end up buying another pair down the road, I'm looking for an over the ear set.

I'm debating between the Sennheiser HD280 Pro's and the AKG K271 MKII.

I'd go for the latter but I have read about a lot of recommendations for an amp for the AKG's which I'd like to avoid purchasing.

Thoughts? I know we have some audiophiles around here.

If you have the cash, pick up the K271 MKII's and also grab this: http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-E7-Portab...ref=pd_vtp_e_6

Great combo for a lot of computer listening.

if you're going to pick up the amp, you might as well get the FiiO L3 Line Out Dock, it can really make a difference.

What does this have to do with the E7? The E7 connects to PC's through USB.

I use this when I listen to my iPod/iPhone, and if I connect it directly to my headphone jack on my phone, it doesn't sound great because the iPhone/iPod already has a built in amp. So I got the LOD

I have the HD280 Pro's, they're the first real 'nice' pair of headphones I've gotten and they sound fantastic and they're very comfortable. No real complaints.

Maybe I should also mention that I've only had them for a little over a month now

    I don't know, ~$100.

Wouldn't really be opposed to spending more. Don't really want to go over $150 though.

Hey everyone, I'm looking for something specific for a pair of earphones and I'm not even sure if something like what I want exists... I want something that will block out background noise (like people talking, whistling, singing, etc.) but aren't the big can headphones. I want something smaller profile, like ear buds. I just have the standard earphones that come with an ipod, but I have to turn the volume up uncomfortably loud to drown out the noise so I can concentrate at work... any ideas?

Better in-ears will tune out more outside noise, but you won't get the level cans can do. Grados or Kliptsch's are one's I've tried before that sound good. They have a pretty large price range too I think so you can find a price you want.

hey everybody, I'm looking to get a new pair of headphones. I am currently rocking a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones, but the plug that goes into the computer is a little bent and the sound has gotten pretty shitty because of it, and I always have to turn the plug so it doesn't sound terrible. Pretty annoying.

I'm looking to spend no more than around $100. Anyone have any good suggestions? I loved these pair of sennheiser's but think I want to go with another model this time around. I'm not opposed at all to another pair of sennheiser's either. What do ya'll think?
