Robbie Arnell (Stephen Arnell from Arrow's brother) is going to be on Flash.

He's going to go full on Firestorm!

    Flash pilot premiers tonight!

Since most people downloaded the pilot when it leaked this summer, they added 3 extra minutes to the pilot tonight to bring the ratings back in.

    Still watching it.

Yeah buddy! Even though I watched the pilot back in the summer I am still watching this tonight. 3 minutes or no 3 minutes :-) I was watching the original Flash series on DVD last weekend and man is that cheesy LOL! I try to focus on the story and not the 90's cheese everywhere, but it's hard. Still makes for a pretty fun watch.

I started to rewatch the pilot a few weeks ago and it is cheesier than I remembered, but it's still wicked entertaining. Iris is really the cheesiest part of the show. She's not a great actress and has a lot of bad dialogue, but the rest is a lot of fun. Looking forward to watching this on the couch and not in front of a computer screen!

"the network premiered spinoff The Flash on Tuesday night. It marked the CW's highest-rated opener since The Vampire Diaries in 2009."

I also read on Facebook (can't remember the article or link) but CW is so impressed with how well these shows are doing they're considering another DC Comics superhero show.

Not to say Gotham is bad, but it's pretty much NYPD Blue with a few Batman villains thrown in.

Was nice to finally have a new episode. Saw the pilot over the summer, obviously watched it again last week, so it was nice to finally get something new. ONLY thing I'm not a huge fan of is that we have two shows in the same universe that have a "team" working with the hero. I love what they have going on in Arrow, but the girl and guy scientists are a little cheesy and annoying. Cisco especially. He was a little better in this last episode, but he was terrible in the first. I want to love this show, but some of the dialogue is rough as well. If they can keep things progressing and get up to the quality of Arrow then this will be fantastic.

Flash is definitely campier than Arrow, but it still has some pretty dark parts. The dialogue is incredibly cheesy so far, though, and some of it was almost cringeworthy. Other than that though, I'm enjoying seeing the Flash brought to life and the special effects have been pretty solid so far, which I was worried about as it's a CW show.

    Re: The Flash (CW Show)

Anyone watch last nights episode? Thought it was pretty cool. Dialogue and acting are still pretty rough, but overall a lot of fun. When you think about the dialogue in an actual comic book it's not usually that mind blowing. I would say this show watches like a live action comic book. I do think CW needs to work on it's female characters. For those of us watching Arrow we all know how bad Laurel is and Thea isn't the best (have hope for both of them this season), but the women in The Flash are worst. Iris is absolutely awful and I can't stand her character, which is too bad because she's a main character in the books. I like the scientist, but she's still in need of some work as well. Her acting is not too great. Not a spoiler since we all know the fiance dies - There was absolutely NO emotional attachment in the scene where her fiance dies. It was such a flat performance and didn't make me care one way or the other about her relationship with him.

Overall I like the show and haven't been turned off like I was Gotham, but Arrow is way better. I still have high hopes for this show and think the potential to be even better is definitely there. They just need to work on the acting and dialogue. So far between Gotham and Flash those seem to be the two biggest issues.

    Re: The Flash (CW Show)

Some neats things in the past two episodes -

Flash - Things You Can’t Outrun

Ronnie Raymond introduced - can’t wait to see him as Firestorm!

The movie he saw - “Blue Devil II - The Rita Farr story”, both Blue Devil and Rita Farr (Elasti-Girl) are characters from the comics - it was a nice nod.

Neat to hear him say he didn’t want a museum built in his name, even though in the comics there is a “Flash Museum”.

The “Orloff Case” - Professor Orloff created “The Red Trinity” in the comics - some people who were bioengineered to be fast like the flash. They were Anatole, Cassiopeia and Bebeck. Probably just a name drop, I doubt it’ll lead to that.

Caitlin Snow mentioned her and Ronnie were like “fire and ice” - interesting because Ronnie becomes Firestorm and in The New 52, Caitlin becomes “Killer Frost”.

It was interesting to see The Mist portrayed by Anthony Carrigan, he also plays Victor Zsasz in Gotham.

    Flash - Going Rogue

The “Kahndaq Dynasty” that the diamond comes from - that’s where Black Adam is from.

Oswald Loomis - the trivia guy from Jitters - in the comics he’s “The Prankster”. He’s also one of the Rogues, which is the team Captain Cold puts together. Heat Wave was also a member of the Rogues (who we meet at the end of the episode).

Dexter Myles - the one who called Joe, he’s the one who runs the Flash Museum in the comics.

Awesome seeing Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell together again. They had awesome on screen chemistry in Prison Break. Sucks we only got to hear Purcell at the end of the episode, looking forward to Episode 10 when he gets to lead an episode.

I’m starting to think Thawne won’t become Reverse Flash like in the comics, but Wells is Reverse Flash (since he can see the future). But then again, Eddie Thawne didn’t know the Millennium Falcon, so he could potentially be from the future. At the end of “Things You Can’t Outrun” they showed that video of Wells “creating” The Flash, so I’m not sure right now whether he’s not a good guy or a bad guy.

After the teases we've seen of Grodd, it looks like it's actually going to happen.

"I wouldn’t say teased. I would say we’re going to deal with it this year. The comparison I make is a little bit to Slade the first year on Arrow in the sense of we started with the mask in the pilot and then we saw which way we were going. He was, ultimately, in the back half of that first season even more than we would ever do with Grodd this first year because… We’re going to have to get the technology right and all the stuff right to make it look and feel real. But a lot of times, we do this stuff not as a tease as much as a challenge to ourselves of, “Can we do it?” Grodd’s definitely one of those, so we hope we pull it off."

Just caught up on the last 3 or 4 episodes this weekend. Really digging this show. Interested to see where they're going with Dr. Wells' character. I've been thinking he may be Reverse Flash, but it seems weird to deviate that far from the comics. Thawne has always been Reverse Flash in the comics, right? Why would they make it someone else?

Only problem with the show. Iris. Between Arrow and The Flash they just can't seem to get a good female character other than Felicity. Sarah was OK, but not great. Iris is absolutely terrible and I cringe anytime she's on screen. Dare I say she's worse than Laurel? I think she is.

That list of people who died in the particle accelerator explosion - some heavy name drops!

Ralph Dibny - Elongated Man (Justice League)
Al Rothstein - Nuklon/Atom Smasher (remember them name drop this in the pilot?, had the ability to grow huge and have massive strength.
Grant Emerson - Damage, could take in energy and use energy (Zero Hour: Crisis in Time)
Be a DeCoasta - Fire - controlled fire, usually green in the comics (spy, Justice League Int’l)
    Will Everett - Amazing Man

Looks like they'll be pulling more characters in the future.

Just watched the last episode and have to say that was the best one yet. I really enjoyed that. I don't know much about the Crisis arc but I'm assuming that's what they're alluding to when Wells pulls up the paper from 2024. I was watching on my phone and paused so I could try and read some of it. I'll give it another shot tomorrow. It was tough to make out. But it was cool to see the article headline Wayne Tech and Queen Merger Finalized (or something like that).

I think he said "what THAT man does is dangerous (?)", not batman. I thought I heard Batman as well, but I rewound twice and he definitely said "that man". I got my hopes up as well initially!

I'm almost certain I read that anything directly Batman-related is off-limits for the CW shows, unfortunately.

Really cool episode tonight, I'm really hoping this is the first step toward a Justice Society of America type team going forward (Arrow, Flash, Atom, Canary, Wildcat, Arsenal, Speedy, maybe a few others).

    Ah bummer.

I'm thinking they're definitely aiming for a JLA. However, doesn't Arrow end after Season 5? Think I read somewhere they are only doing 5 seasons.

I think tonight's episode of Arrow will be better as I feel the writing is way better on that show. They also have better acting.

I think you're right about the 5 seasons thing for Arrow. Not sure where I read that but it definitely is not the first time I've heard that. I'm sure there's a way they could expand to a JSA/JLA type team-up sometime in the last two seasons though, especially with 20+ episodes per season.

I also think Arrow is substantially better than Flash, as well. Outside of Grant Gustin and the guy that plays Professor X, I mean, Dr. Wells, I think the acting on that show has been pretty sub-par. All the auxiliary characters are very poorly acted, especially the chick that plays Caitlin. Her delivery is legitimately like she's reading something out loud in class. Detective West isn't terrible, but I think they could make his character a lot more interesting.

Arrow's cast outshone Flash's last night by a mile. The fight scene in the back alley was pretty cool, though. Just seeing live-action versions of these characters is still awesome, even though they're a little cheesy/campy at times by virtue of their being on CW. Makes me incredibly excited for the DC movies coming out in 2016.

Agreed. Caitlin and Iris are just terrible. Oddly enough Cisco has grown on me. He's not as bad as I thought he was going to be. I have to admit, I'm somewhat disappointed with The Flash. I've been waiting since 1990 to see this character brought back to a live action setting and am not overly impressed with this show. The writing is not great and the acting is really what's killing it. How forced was that scene with Captain Singh where out of nowhere he says "my boyfriend won't let me eat this kind of stuff at home"? That was just thrown in there to let us all know he's gay. That could have been handled way better than that. It seriously came out of nowhere and had nothing to do with anything. That is the perfect example of the poor writing. I'll keep watching this show because, as you said, it's fun to watch these characters come to life. But I have definitely been let down by it. I thought it would be better.

I really enjoyed the crossover episode. Really cool stuff. It was neat how when Arrow appeared on Flash they used his music, and when Flash appeared on Arrow they used his music.

It was interesting to hear Captain Singh talking about “his boyfriend” - in the comics his boyfriend was the Pied Piper - he was a Rogue with Captain Cold, Heat Wave and Captain Boomerang (who was the bad guy in this episode that Arrow was chasing from the last episode of arrow). We’ve already seen all 3 of these characters, but apparently the Pied Piper is coming in Episode 10 of Flash.

At the end of the Flash, the woman you saw was Oliver Queen’s baby mama - the one Oliver’s mom paid off to move away. It would be cool if this was a lead up to Connor Hawke (the second Green Arrow).

    Firestorm looked absolutely bad ass.
