I have not heard this. However I also don't have any "sources" or connections to anything so....

That would be amazing (assuming it was done right of course.)

Smart idea for the box set too, that's the only way they'll get people to buy Everyday and Stand Up - if you want the other 3 you're stuck with the 2 shitty ones too.

Hell they should re-do UTTAD all-analog and put that in there too.

Depending on who does the mastering, I'd buy each of those separately just for better mastered copies

That's exactly what I was thinking about this, but doesn't feel like DMB to put them all out at once to me. They like to drag things out and milk it for every penny.

Would you listen to them more than once? I don't know if it's worth the money to buy them individually, but I would definitely get the set if that's the only way to get BTCS and Crash.

    Box set idea sounds awful.

Re-do UTTAD first off, please. I had it in my hands yesterday at the record store and it was really sad to finally have it in my hands and put it back down because it's crap.

    It still is crap right?

It's certainly not the worst I've heard, but they definitely could have done it so, so much better. Not enough of an improvement on the CD to be worth $35 that's for sure.

I can't confirm or talk about what they're actually doing next on vinyl until it's announced, but I can confirm 100% that it is not this.

Well, that is that then. Can you confirm or deny whether the announcement will come sooner rather than later or later, rather than sooner?

That Van Halen boxset is a score! I wanted to grab that when it came out but so pricey.

Same here - wanted it but didn't want to pony up $75 so just made do with Spotify. $30 is a steal. Should still be available if you want to grab one!

I really like the set/show. The band sounds great, Eddie is on fire, and Dave is....well, tolerable enough to not detract from the experience.

Hey all, it's been, uh, years.

Steve Lillywhite confirms that UTTAD, Crash and BTCS were all analog:
    https://twitter.com/Sillywhite/statu...01753392693249

They can do whatever they want, but please give us all-analog remastered versions. Also, can you hand these over to Kevin Gray to do the mastering at Coherent? The Music Matters vinyls turned out unbelievably great, let's put these masters through that same chain.

Also, I'm open to anyone gifting me LT1 on vinyl, though I'm really looking forward to Red Rocks 2005 and LT11 (SPAC 2000), two of my favorite shows I've attended.

Wasn't sure where to share this but I feel like I've seen several Violent Femmes fans in here. They were playing at a music fest I attended last night and they were between bands I was seeing so I stuck around. They played their entire s/t album start to finish. Pretty cool. Not really my style but a cool experience.

Thanks man. I guess that I'd missed that and only heard they left of Rois solo and it was a digital pressing.

I think I assumed it was a poorly done like AFTW. So high quality digital from the tapes, cut by Chris Bellman-- I'm in.

How do I ensure I'm getting the copy with Jimi Thing fixed? Do I have to go through DMB official?

Any copy you get now should be the corrected one, whether you order from the DMB store, Amazon, local record store, etc.

So I couldn't believe it, I was grilling out tonight and my wife says "you know what I want?, some outdoor speakers." I couldn't believe it, here's my chance to get some new audio equipment without her making a face! So any thoughts or suggestions?

I would probably hardwire and run to my receiver, I'm hoping to get a new receiver out of it too, lol.

Bradley Nowell & Friends (Acoustic) is getting a vinyl reissue.

    http://www.fatbeats.com/products/sub...ell-friends-lp

It's hard to find, the only other one I know about was the picture disc and it's always going for a fortune when I see it online. This one is only 24.99$.

Wait, so now UTTAD vinyl is good to buy? I thought it was basically shit (pressed from digital, wrong Jimi which was fixed, download code was for old not remastered album etc). What's the deal here? I never bought it, because, well I was voting with my wallet damn it!

It isn't "shit"; it just had more potential than what was actually delivered.

Being pressed from digital doesn't inherently mean a bad sounding album (nor does being all analogue necessarily lead to amazing fidelity, though most AAA are handled properly throughout and thus good sound is a bi-product from all the care and attention to detail).

The Jimi thing was a fuck up, but they at least made us whole for those of us who received a mispressing.

Can't speak to the download card, I haven't used mine

The UTTAD vinyl release to me is pretty bad. Up there with AFTW. I can barely listen to it due to too much sibilance.

Yeah this is probably the most common complaint and I experienced it too until I upgraded my stylus from the Ortofon 2M Red to the Blue. Still there, but greatly reduced

It's not AWFUL, just could have been done better. As I think I understand it, Ted Jensen cut a new digital master from the original tapes and his new digital master was used for the vinyl rather than doing it AAA. However Jensen didn't have nearly as heavy a hand with the dynamic range compression on his remaster as he usually does so while it could have been better, it could have been a lot worse too given his track record. Would have certainly been better done all analog and cut by Bellman, Kevin Gray, Bernie Grundman, etc. though!

I know Steve Lillywhite recently confirmed on Twitter that all of the Big 3 were recorded to analog tape and analog masters exist for all of them.

Those tweets by Lillywhite confirming analogue chains for the "big three" were in response to me.

All we need to hope for is that the original masters are a) in great condition and b) can be found.

Timing with Crash and BTCS for 45rpm is an issue. RTI recommends 10 mins/side for optimum sound and warns that going over 12 mins will compromise your recording. #41 > Say Goodbye is 12m50s. Is it acceptable to split up that segue for the sake of sonics? Super ultimate 6LP 45rpm set?

    UTTAD would have worked well:

    A1 - BOWA
    A2 - WWYS
    7:59

    B1 - Satellite
    B2 - R&R
    10:06

    C - Typical Situation
    5:59

    D - Dancing Nancies
    6:05

    E1 - Ants Marching
    E2 - Lover Lay Down
    10:08

    F - Jimi Thing
    5:57

    G - Warehouse
    7:06

    H1 - PFWYG
    H2 - #34
    9:32

If you cut one song/side with BTCS you'd get a perfect 5LP 45rpm set. The shortest side if you cut 2 songs would already be 10:42.

41>Bye needs to be on one side. That's one thing I've longed for, hear ding that run uninterrupted on Crash (vinyl).
