Re: Double disc release for new album?
Double albums are tough. Hardcore fans love them, but the general public does not. I'd rather them focus on quality.. not quantity.
The Live, not live idea is cool, and AFTW started as the band recording songs not put on an album before.. but it quickly became about new material. I just don't think Dave gets very excited about old material. Once it's been 'completed', and in it's final form, he doesn't seem like he wants to go back and play with it much. So if it hasn't been laid down in the studio, I don't see the guys going back to track them again.
I think I'd rather them just open up the vault and do an album of B-sides. According to Lillywhite, there isn't much that was left on the albums he worked on. I think even the fabled Machead is not in a finished state.. so it might be hard.
