10 Days to Barcelona

On June 1st 2008, myself and my friends Ryan (images) & Mia (navigation) set off on a last-minute road trip from Dublin to Barcelona, squished into my little ol' mini with a portable recording studio. The idea is to stop off along the way in random places where I have to write and record a new song every day, either in the mini or outdoors on a rock or something. 10 days = 10 songs = album Nuevo. We'll update as we go... if we're anywhere near an internet connection that is. We hope to arrive in Barcelona on June 10th, or at least in time to go see Radiohead play on June 12th and then fly home for the Leonard Cohen dates. Yay!

When pottering along in the mini at 45-50 miles an hour we tend to arrive at our destinations when it's time to go to bed... so andy has joined our road trip in a hybrid car from paris to zip ahead and have the recording gear set up and his musical ears ready for the night... songs 1 to 4 written and bits of recording done so far...

O is better, but I love both albums a lot. I wish Lisa would come back; she was amazing with his stuff. I'd still love to see him live one day. There really is so much emotion in everything he sings. That note he hits on Elephant is just...WOW!

Agreed. O is the better overall album, IMO, but 9 might have some better individual songs...maybe, I'll have to give them both a listen again, it's been a while. Live at Union Chapel tunes keep popping up when I shuffle my ipod.

Childish is my favorite song from Union Chapel, but the whole thing is great. I wish I had more then 10 songs from it.

This was a free promo, and very rare. It only had 5 tracks, and 3 are on the actual Union Chapel release. Two that were on here, but not on the release are actually great performances.

If the movie title doesn't sound familiar to you, it's because to my knowledge it was only released across the pond. It featured 4 cover songs originally by Tom Jobim. Three of the four were by Damien, Lisa, and Vyvienne. The other by some guy named Richie Burkley.

9 Crimes (Demo)
This demo is actually found on the 9 CD, but it's a hidden track. It was a zero track, that basically you had to start the 1st track and rewind to it. Not all CD players are capable of skipping forward/backward and accessing this demo. I created a thread on Ants a long time ago and many people were unaware of it. This is the guitar version of the song.

This was done with Christy Moore. This isn't rare, but it's not easy to get ahold of either. I used to have an acoustic version, that was just Damien. The guest singer has a weird voice, but after I got used to it I like him as well.

There were three different versions of Dogs released for the single. Obviously Dogs was always track #1, but the rest were various radio Performances. In case you haven't heard it, Rootless Tree from the 3FM is absolutely AMAZING. Way better then the version on 9.

This was a radio show they did in June 2004. I think it's just Damien and Lisa. The quality isn't great, but it's not bad either. It's clear, but the bitrate is on the lower side. I got these over from EskimoFriends.com a long time ago. It's cool though because it's got Lisa doing lead vocals on Cannonball.

Ok this is something I'm willing to bet none of you have. Took me a long time to track down a copy. Not sure why I didn't upload this with all the other songs. There's a place called Fingerprints Record store in Long Beach, CA. This was recorded in-store sometime in November 2006 during the 9 tour. Yes Lisa is still with him. This got released in 2007, but to my knowledge is an in store exclusive. It's more then likely out of print now. I finally found a torrent for it a while ago, and I think you'll enjoy this.

Gives you a little more complete experiance that way. I'd highly recommend Volcano from this. Then Go, Be My Husband, and Silent Night all feature Lisa on lead vocals. Well there's not much more like that. I'm gonna look through the depths of my computer later to see if I have anything else. At one point I had this weird radio show from like France or something. I remember it having an issue like clicking, but it had Accidental Babies done on guitar. So I'd upload that if anything.

Hopefully someone else on the boards is a rice fan, and has all the b-sides/shows I haven't already uploaded. That's just crazy you had Fingerprints and not the more common b-sides I posted towards the top of the page.
