Woo it was only two months after I posted this that I found a good, real job and left my last one in the rear view mirror. Still totally unrelated to my degree and I didn't have much relevant experience, but my friend works there and got me the in. Great company and I've loved it for this past year and a half.

I'm on Level 2, tough stuff. I don't know where I want to pursue an MBA yet, I haven't looked into it too much. If I plan to stay locally, CMU Tepper School is probably my best bet.. If not there, I would probably apply to other top tier programs (Ross at UM, Stern at NYU, etc)

I'm going to Vegas for 4 days. Right now I work 6 days and about 60 hours a week in store. I can't imagine myself working any less than 60 hours a week no matter the field.

Some college, quite a bit just no degree yet, own 2 businesses.

60 hours a week, when did this become the standard? I'm not calling you out, I'm just replying to your post because you're the one who posted it.

10hrs at work, 8hrs sleep - that leaves 6hrs. 1hr getting ready in the morning, 30min commute. That leaves 4.5hrs. 1.5hrs aggregate to eat, that leaves 3hrs. 3 free hrs to do with what you please - seems impossible if one has a family.

I just don't get this sudden push for literally working all the time.

60 hours certainly isn't standard for everyone, it is for me. I've worked full time since I was 13, more or less, it's just how I'm wired. I also think that how hard I work is one of the few things I can control, so I won't let other people beat me because they're working harder. I don't think I could get to where I want by putting in 40 hour weeks. I also don't sleep 8 hours a day.

Word - like I said, my post was mainly rhetorical, it's just that your post breached the subject so I responded. It just seems to me that's where things are headed. Priority #1 needs to be work in order to be respected in a professional setting. Need to leave to go pick up your kid from daycare? Yeeaaahhh, about that...

That's why I work for myself and make my hours. If I need to leave, I can. And 20 hours a week I work are after they are in bed.

My wife can work mainly from home, so we're fortunate that we don't need day care at all, my mom watches the youngest two one day a week so she gets grandma time and my wife gets 8 full hours of office work done.

Bachelor's degree in "media studies" which is basically radio/tv/film/print. Currently working as a producer for a pretty well-known company that has one of the longest running shows currently on TV.
