Re: The NBA Thread

So who's the MVP?

I lean Kawai if The Spurs get the #1 seed.
Otherwise, it should be Russ. People keep trying to say his extra rebounds are insignificant... I agree! But what they wont mention is if Russ and Harden changed places, Russ would avg 18 assists a game.

IMO Russ has run away with it

Kawhi runs the Spurs motor, but that team is still so strong 11 deep and the advance stats don't really go his way--everyone knows the raw stats aren't impressive either

    Greek Freak.

Just kidding, it's definitely Russ. Don't think it's particularly close either.

Westbrook is having a historic season and without him the Thunder are turrible. Just my two cents.

This is nonsense - Harden is a much better passer than Westbrook. If you take both off of their respective teams, both teams are trash. Harden deserves to win, and will win - although I do like Westbrook better. I actually think Lebron should be #2, and Westbrook #3.

Harden is not a better passer than Westbrook.
    Also, I fucking hate Westbrook.
Bottom line, you cant win a championship with either as your #1 guy.

His defense is more inconsistent than his offense this year. I just saw the man in person, and witnessed Kuzminskas and Rose blow by him on multiple occasions- an occurrence I've seen many times this season. Dude brings it when it counts though. Overall the team defense is worse than last year obviously due to Duncan being gone. Kawhi's defense is still solid but not even close to pushing his argument over the top of two of the best statistical seasons in NBA history

What is there to "hate?" Dislike, sure. Rival of your favorite team, fine. But "hate?" I just don't see where people have those feelings.

To me it's almost become the John Cena effect, on top for so long that people are just fatigued with him being great.they want someone else to take his spot.

I find it hard to get tired and bored with greatness.

I agree that the reason he won't win MVP is because people do get bored with his greatness.

But he is also one of the most unlikable stars in my lifetime.

I had LeBron as a clear 2nd until cleveland's recent struggles, imo he's out of the race especially if they end up the 2 seed

If Russ breaks Oscar's record of 41 triple doubles (He's 3 away from a tie with 8 games left) and averages a triple-double for the season, would you people still vote Harden? Just curious.

I don't see how you give it to Harden over RW with how RW is closing out the season. Last 2 games: 57 point triple-double tonight in an OT win (scored 26 in 4th/OT), hit the game winner previous game with a 37 point triple-double.

    Yes
Because Harden is on a contender, and Russ is not.

Because he plays for a non contender. Harden and Westbrook stats are very similar except Westbrook averages about 2 more rebounds per game, and Harden is more efficient scorer. The difference is team performance. Personally, I like Westbrook and his game more.

Getting to the Finals is a contender. I think they have the 3rd best record in the NBA. Regardless, Houston much better than OKC. Crazy how OKC could have Durant, Westbrook, and Harden on the same team now, and even though Durant is the least impressive statistically, is still probably the best player.
