Re: The NHL Thread

I still can't actually believe the Oilers are gonna get McDavid. How disappointing for the rest of the league.

I didn't like Murray's comments. He sounded like any other player is shit.

Yeah Eichel is no slouch. So it's not like they get nothing now. But I can understand his frustration and annoyance. I think basically everyone outside of Edmonton is frustrated and annoyed with the result.

They continued to draft more and more forwards, completely neglecting their subpar defense and total lack of goaltending

I understand that but I feel as a GM you don't say that publicly. Especially when you were the one sending talent away like it was a bad thing. The draft is set up this way to hope teams don't do what he did. And again how do you make Eichel feel when you are saying that publicly?

They have those few guys and that's it. Plus none of them have turned out to be superstars. They are good but not McDavid or Crosby good.

I guess you never really know until they play but the amount of points he had this past season the only other guys to score that much or more was Crosby and Lindros. Before his concussion issues Lindros was dominant so pretty good company there.

Edminton won thw lottery so they go first. Everyone else is ranked by record so that means they handpicked Edmonton to go first. How does Edmonton winning benefit the league? Already a good market so no need for it. Arizona winning benefits the league but that didn't happen.

Fucking terrible news. We're just going to see if Seth Jones can step up and consistently perform on the top defensive pairing. Josi luckily has stepped up to star status this year.

Guessing Buffalo going in the 2 spot isn't a horrible place to be. I would assume that would be a market they would want to strengthen.

if Edmonton was smart they would trade two of either Hall, RNH, Eberle, and Yakupov for a big return of goaltending and defense and draft McDavid.

Oh I think Arizona and Buffalo 1&2 was best for the league. Arizona needs help a lot and Buffalo is a good market when they win. That's why I dont buy the fixing thing.

Every year I say i'm gonna watch more hockey and adopt a team to root for, but it never happens. Don't watch a minute of the regular season, but man when the Playoffs roll around and I'm full blown into it. CBus just doesn't do it for me, and all of my friends are Red Wing fans, but there is something about the Blackhawks and Chicago fans that I love. Bandwagoner to the max.

Red Wings might have a goalie available and could still use some more young talent.

you're fucking kidding me, right? Why the hell would the NHL want Edmonton to have McDavid--that's literally the worst thing that could happen for the league.

Buffalo is actually a pretty strong market. They consistently pull top tv ratings even when theyre terrible. Its why we saw so much of them on nbc this year

Depends on a few variables I think. If Mrazek plays well the rest of the series maybe you look at it. Also if he wants out after this. The positive of moving him for a young forward frees up money too. I'm more for holding onto him to make sure Mrazek is the real deal next year.

And Mrazek to start game 3. Not surprised. Babcock always gives his guys a game to redeem themselves. If he fails though, I'm sure it's Howie in game 4.
I am not sure that Mrazek has anything to redeem. His defense left him hung out to dry for every one of those goals.
