Hi I just signed up for Antsmarching.org and I am currently at FOB Warrior in Northern Iraq. The guys in my unit are all from Chicago, but I am from Pittsburgh, PA. We listen to DMB "Everyday." It is nice because it takes you away from where you are and right back to the memories the Dave songs have for us. We all tell stories about past shows or where we were when we first heard certain songs. It is cool. I actually have had two people send me the Pittsburgh shows from this year through a letter I posted on Nancies.org. Looking around for more sites, I found this place. We have a limited computer access out here, but we'd love to recieve shows from any year. A Dave and Tim set would be nice as well, since I've never seen one or heard one beyond Luther College. Thanks for thinking of all of us out here because a lot of us really do not want to be here. Still seeing how these people live, I hope we can do some good out here, y'know. Anyway, pen pals, shows, and any kind of words from home are always appreciated out here. Thanks for thinking of us and others.

Hey Josh - I just sent you a bunch of shows, a dvd and copy of the current Rolling Stone featuring DMB - literally just got back from the post office.

For anyone who is interested in sending shows to Josh, Joe Roma started a blog to help organize the efforts - http://dmbiniraq.blogspot.com/

Hey y'all, I just wanted to say that this means the world to us. That we are DMB fans notwithstanding, any gesture of appreciation from home is so welcome and so awesome for those of us who miss being home. A lot of the people in my unit are Dave fans or have more recently become fans because of how much we play it. This little gesture goes a long way to bringing smiles to our faces when there is not much to smile about. Thank you all so very much!!

I told some of the guys in my unit about what everyone is doing and they all send their thanks. Of course, they also sent some requests....

I don't know if you all have DVDs of shows, but they asked for DVD's for following shows if anyone has them:

    Tweeter Center 7/3/03
    U Mass 5/5/03
    Scranton 2/2/97

The last two are Dave and Tim. Just putting it out there. Thanks.

Re: Help out the troops around the world

Please read below, my friend from Pittsburgh fwd this email to me:

I am a very huge fan of Dave Matthews Band from Pittsburgh, PA. I've been down since 1994 and have bought all of the albums, some of them more than once. I've seen the band when they performed at the AJ Palumbo Center to Star Lake to Three Rivers Stadium.

I had served six years in the US Army Reserve, being activated to Germany, Bosnia, and Korea. After my active reserve time was up, President Bush actived the Inactive Ready Reserve, of which I am a member thus calling me up to active duty to serve over here in Iraq. I linked up with a Unit from Chicago, IL and I was pleased to find out that most of them are Dave Matthews Band fans as well. Everyday we listen to the band. We listen to them while we work, we listen to them while we work out, we listen to them when to do our online college courses at night. There have been many stressful moments that during this tour we have been able to use the music of the Dave Matthews Band to take us away from the place we do not want to be and find ourselves, mentally, a little closer to home.

That being said, we are obviously not going make it to any of the 2005 DMB shows, as we are here until December or later. I know that fans are allowed to record the shows and we were wondering if perhaps there was any possible way that one or two of these recordings could be sent to us in Iraq. What would make it even better is if they were the recordings of the Pittsburgh and Chicago shows. We love "Stand Up" and would love to be able to hear those songs live. Thanks for your time and attention, wish I could be at home and going to the show. Thanks for reading this.

    Recordings can be sent to:

    Sgt Joshua M. Patton
    331st AG
    FOB Warrior
    APO, AE 09338

Extra bonus points to anybody who can send a recording with the liner notes in Arabic or Kurdish, so the 331st AG can share the love

    Sgt. Joshua Patton,

I have the 6/5 Star Lake (Pittsburgh) show and it is wicked! I don't know what kind of 'net access there, but I can send other shows as well if you would like. Check http://db.etree.org/tabe and let me know! I just got out in March after an eternity, so let me say be safe, and we will see you soon! Hopefully back at the next Star Lake show (I am from Youngstown, Ohio about 40 minutes from you).

    Hey Ants -

For people who are interested in sending shows to Josh Patton, please check out this site: http://dmbiniraq.blogspot.com/ . Joe Roma has tried to organize this effort by listing what shows have already been sent to Josh. If you plan on sending shows, read this entry http://dmbiniraq.blogspot.com/2005/0...onna-work.html , and shoot Joe an email. Josh and I have been emailing and he and his unit are extremely grateful!!

Joe also has mailing info for another DMB fan in Irag: http://dmbiniraq.blogspot.com/2005/0...n-in-iraq.html

Hello y'all, I just wanted to say that rachel is right, I am extremely grateful. I recieved about 10 shows just Thursday alone!! I was very happy to pass them onto others. I also recieved a letter from a man named Ted Trestik. He has a pretty bad assignment, if you ask me, and to make things worse his unit doesn't like DMB. I sent him the Tinley Park Show and The 6/5/05 show. I also sent him a copy of the Rolling Stone with them on the cover. Thanks to the two people who sent those! Anyway, if you all would like to add Ted's address to the list it is as follows:

    SGT Ted Trestik
    306 MP BN
    APO AE 09342

I can't tell you all how much this means to us. To see everyone show us so much love for such an unpopular war. It really makes things so much easier. Much love and gratitude from Iraq!

ok, so i read the two blogs about sending shows, and if i can still send shows/dvd's... theres no harm in sending more than one show is there? i know it says they'd like more than one copy and that is fine. but i think if your willing to send more than one show, you should do it at one time. and i didnt find a list of the shows that have been sent yet. so any help would be appreicited.
