Re: Minnesota Twins

I think they will ultimately fall short come year end. They finish the year with the Royals at home, and depending on what they plan on doing to prepare for the playoffs, I'm sure the Royals will do what they can to keep the Twins out of the post season if that final series means something.

    Re: Minnesota Twins

    probably right

    odd season in all
came in with low expectations (vegas had us at like 70 wins right?)
then they are screaming into all-star break
everyone's expectation resets (maybe that was the mistake)
then they slide hard after break (i had the misfortune of going to a few of those games)

if we finish a few game light of wild card, it should be viewed as a success given last 4 seasons
even more so when you look at our joke of a starting pitching staff

    upside is it's football season

2016 looks bright, and that's the main thing. Pitching should again be the off season priority. The Twins have no real reason to sign Torii past this year if he decides to play again, sad as that is to say. They need to have an OF consisting of Rosario-Buxton-Hicks starting day 1 next season. And if they are going to try and stash Sano at DH while they figure out where Plouffe fits in to future plans, that doesn't leave much of a place for Torii to justify taking up a spot on the 25-man roster.

Twins are going to be really good in the coming years. AL Central should be fun to watch for the foreseeable future.

Miguel Sano is strong as hell. Huge win. Sano's numbers extrapolated to 162 games:

    .281 AVG
    .389 OBP
    .592 SLG
    45 homers
    37 doubles
    103 walks
    123 RBIs

That game stings. Sano was looking at an obvious strikes 3 call. Not called, HR on next pitch.

Sano is an absolute monster. The Twins should try to lock him up at something like 8 years for $120 million this offseason. If Sano gets to arbitration and free agency, they'll end up paying far, far more.

Anybody who picked the pre-season OVER on the Minnesota Twins in Vegas just made a lot of money tonight. 73-67 as of 11-Sep-15. The O/U was 72.5.

If you bet the preseason O/U for the Minnesota Twins you have a big gambling problem

This is the perfect time for them to have a lengthy home stand. Next 10 at TF, and if they can go 7-3 they should be in good position heading in to the last week of the season.

I did. Sad they pissed it away in the 9th. I guess that evens them up for that 7-run comeback the Twins pulled earlier in the season. This just isn't the time to be losing ballgames after going in to the 9th with a lead.

I've been staying up late all week after wrecking my routine for that Vikings game Monday night.

The only nice thing is Houston/Texas is pounding on each other right now, so the Twins can't lose much no matter what way that series went. Still, should have been 2 of 3 against Detroit.

How crazy is the NL? The Cubs are the second wild-card team and they have 90 wins (and third place in the division) with a week left. That NL Central division is both fearsome and terrible at the same time.

Every scenario for this weekend. Almost every scenario says we have to go 3-0 or 2-1. And then get help. Astros have to lose at least 1.

For a team that virtually every "expert" predicted would finish dead last, the 2015 Twins pulled off a miracle. Im disappointed, but excited for what 2016 brings, to be sure.

    Whats everyone's thoughts on Hunter???

They definitely compete for the division next year. This group of guys reminds me of that group that went on a string of division champions in early 2000's once they all came together on the big league club.

As for TH, unless he's ok with a much more limited role next year, as well as limited salary, he's gonna hang up his spikes. Would love to see him in the club house one more year and then be able to pass the baton to someone else to be that leader, but I don't see there being terms available to make that happen.

Hunter did say he is not coming back to be a part time player...Would be very hard to keep Rosario, Buxton or Hicks out of the outfield. No easy answer here. I wish TH was cool just being a coach or something of that capacity.
