If they were to try ight now they would probably need 2 solid openers who themselves have a good draw. Something like: Railroad Earth, YMSB, or Big Gigantic.

Short answer, no. (and thats okay)

Yeah, that's still not enough even with all of those acts. Last year jambase hosted an event featuring the likes of Robert Plant, Bruce Hornsby, Slightly Stoopid, RRE, ALO, STS9, Galactic, MIchael Franti, Robert Randolph, and 10 other high caliber jam bands and they had to cancel it due to low sales. The Gorge is a hard place to draw for acts that are not DMB, Phish, Tom Petty, etc.

Any recent new year's show is spectacular. Many tunes feature great horns and Jeff Coffin.
The Hall of Fame collections are great, and you can't go wrong with any of them.

I might be in the minority here, but I think Mantis is a wonderful studio album for new fans to check out. Perhaps because that's exactly what happened to me ha
    Thank you very much!

Just got around to listening to the UMerica weekend shows and holy balls that jam in The Floor is beautiful! I love how much The Floor makes me want to rock but that jam was amazing, I need to see something like that over NYE. Definitely the highlight of the weekend IMO.

They played Educated Guess, Haji, and Mantis, with a string quartet tonight. I can't wait to hear what this sounds like. https://twitter.com/umphreysmcgee Also anyone going to the Tower Theater or the Asbury Park shows?

Thinking about buying a ticket for the show in Burlington, VT for next week. I know nothing about this band, other then the live show is supposed to be suburb. Any recommendations for a live show in particular I should check out that can act as a good introduction? (Preferably something that has a good sound quality as well). Thanks

First off, DO IT! Best live show around right now, IMO. Do you have spotify? If so, try the beacon theater show and the Fillmore show, those are great starters. They also do great mashups. Come As Your Kids (Nirvana's Come As You Are + MGMT's Kids) is on spotify on the Hall of Fame 2011 album. The Hall of Fame albums showcase their improvisational prowess. All the spotify albums are soundboard quality.

I like to be close to the stage for the first set (I stay on Jakes side to watch him play) and farther back but center stage for the second set so Waful's light show can take me for a ride.

Edit: oh they're seats so you have to choose. Tough, those are both good spots...

i decided I wanted to see the light show, so I'm sitting like 15 rows back from dead center. front row would have been cool, but they were I think too far stage right for the size of the venue. WOOHOO I'm seeing Humphrey's McGoo!!!!

Picked up Similar Skin today. Really dig the rock sound, but I've always loved that Umphrey's is a metal-influenced jam band. Definitely adds to the appeal for me.

Seeing them next Saturday at the Tower. First time since I saw them open for DMB at Alpine in '09. Really excited.

And I'd assume that Alpine show didn't incorporate their full light show. Be prepared to be blown away...Waful is the best in the business!

I really want to see Fancy (Iggy Azalea cover, first verse and chorus) > Professor Wormbog at the Halloween show. I feel that would be some fun. Ha!

Have fun dudes! I am seeing them at the Saranac Brewery this Sunday. In the past they have only played one set there, but this year it said two sets. That would be great.

Educated Guess is a fucking monster. I love it. Getting to see it debuted at Red Rocks was amazing.

QFT. I love what CK5 is doing... but what Waful can do with 1/5 of the budget and none of the help is just phenomenal, and far more impressive IMO.

I love this new UMlive app. Can't believe more bands in this genre aren't doing something similar to this. 9.99 a month is not bad to have every show from '03- now on my phone.

Listening to 8/1/14 right now. That second set is unreal.
