Does Dickey come back for year 46 or do they call it a career?

Such a shame. To lose both Warren AND Derek is a blow that I'm not sure ABB can recover from. I totally understand them wanting to concentrate on their other projects (and the new music from Gov't Mule, WHB, and Tedeschi-Trucks Band is great) but this is crippling if ABB wants to continue. Maybe bring back Dickey for a last hurrah tour and then call it a career?

They need to hang it up if they can't get Dickey back. Warren & Derek did such a great job of filling the void of the original guitarists. I can't imagine the band with out them. ABB has seen an excellent career and it would totally be understood if they called it a day.

That's crazy they're stepping away though. Wonder why both guitarists are leaving. Too spread out? Differences with Gregg? Burned out on ABB?

I have a feeling that they just want to be able to put more attention on their own bands. ABB, while Derek and Warren are key components, is still Gregg's baby. They don't release new studio material very frequently, and obviously a lot of their live shows are still centered around the original lineup's material, so they may want more time for stuff where they are the creative force. ABB still has a pretty heavy touring schedule so I'm sure it takes a lot of their time away from Mule, TTB, and their solo projects.

I can see that. Just hasn't seemed to be a problem for them for the last 15-25 years so why all of a sudden. I don't know. I'm just bummed. Basically my two favorite guitarists in one band now leaving.

That is the weird part. It's pretty shocking that they are both leaving. If it was just Warren, I could see that a little more as he's not getting any younger either and maybe just feels he's spreading himself too thin. Derek's departure is more surprising to me.

Yeah, couldn't get six tickets for any night. I'm not willing to pay stubhub prices, so I'll find another way to celebrate.

such sad news. as others have been saying, it's hard to come by two guitarists like Warren and Derek. this most likely means the end for the band.

I was raised on the ABB, and saw them for the first time at the age of 13 with my dad, who saw them for the first time in 1970 at the same age. By the time i called my dad and told him, he was already looking for tickets to a night at the Beacon this spring. Really hoping i can be there with him.

The Brothers absolutely torched Wanee. Derek and Warren were playing with a ton of attitude. Gregg broke his damn wrist on a golf cart ride so Friday was a little lackluster. Trey sitting in on Franklin's tower was pretty epic. Oteil belted it out. Total dance party. Extremely happy to finally hear Seven Turns in person.

Wanee is truly a great festival.
