I hate the word foodie but I guess that's what I am. I make sure that 2-3 times a year, I have an extravagant meal. Tonight was one of them.

It got me thinking...what was the most I've ever spent for a meal. For me, it was French Laundry in Napa. It's a 12-course menu. I went with my wife for our 1 year anniversary. It cost just under $1,000 for the meal. It was absolutely incredible. Truly an experience. I couldn't imagine going back again until at least out 10 year anniversary because of the price. But god damn it was worth it.
apparently that place has a waiting list like whoa.

You have to call in advance 2 months to the day starting at 10am. You get a busy signal over and over and over. We somehow got the last table available for that day. It was amazing.

Joes is amazing. But I've never spent that much there. Probably one of my absolute favorite restaurants.

Most I've spent is probably $475-$500 for 2ppl at a steakhouse. Michael Jordan's in Chicago is pretty amazing. But that's with cocktails, apps, several expensive bottles of wine. Definitely did some damage in Maui (honeymoon), most meals were $250-$450

Wow. I am not even in the same neighborhood as some of you guys.

I think the biggest I have shelled out is only about $100. Would have shelled out double that it was such a good experience.

Got there on a Friday night with no reservation. Was told the wait would be 45 mins. Turned out it was 30. Had an app, severL drinks, pizza, desert. Got visited to the table, completely at random, by the owner (who also happens to be a billionaire). Asked the waitress to send the manager over, gave them a huge compliment saying it was one of the best dining experiences I have had. Left the waitress a big tip. Great great night.

Re: What's the most you've ever paid for a meal and what was it?

Per person, or as a group?

I mean, I've been to quite a few dinners that have gotten into 4 figures, even approached 5 at one point (was like $8,300 or so), but I don't think any of those were less than 8-9 people. So probably the $350-400 range.

But I also agree with the anti-steak house people. Steaks are always incredible, but I've also just had too many great local steaks at my bro's in VA or my uncle's upstate, etc to really say a $60 steak is worth it.

Most of the fancy places I've been are the 5 or more course deals, so it's like a 3 hour affair, drink tons of wine, prix fixe at like $85, etc.

also any restaurant that puts gold leaf on shit, I will never patronize no matter how delicious your food is. That has to be the cunitest thing ever in the service industry.

spending 650 at joe's crab shack would be really fun, but you'd need like 12 very high people
