Re: Misheard lyrics

I actually have a lot of these personally, especially for pop songs, I hear them and kind of make up my own lyrics. I think it is because I know I won't like the song, so I just go with something. An example (but not necessarily because I don't like the song):

Cab Driver - Hall and Oates

Actual Lyric:
Cab driver, take me home

My lyric:
Have mother, take me home

A really good friend of mine got hooked on that song once when we were roommates. He thought that the line was "Like a twister I was born to walk alone."

After a month of hearing him belt that line out at the top of his lungs I casually walked into his room with a grin on my face and said, "It's like a DRIFTER you idiot," and went straight back to my room. That song still brings good laughs to this day.

    Oh hay

Listening to 90s hits on Pandora this morning when "Kryptonite" came on. I was reminded of how for the first year or two of that song being out, I thought the chorus went "If I were president, would you still call me superman?"

    It still fits dammit

    Re: Misheard lyrics

Wife admitted yesterday that she always thought the Full House theme song went as follows:

"Everywhere you look, everwhere, there's a heart, there's a heart. I hear the horn blowing!"

She was advocating that the horn blowing would of course be in reference to the fact that they were driving on the bridge, and someone may have honked. She is an adult with two degrees.

    Misheard: Didn't need no welfare state, G R O the salad's great.

Really been on that 90s music kick. Good place to come across songs you always misheard because you were young and dumb.

I had Jagged Little Pill when it came out. I found an image on Google to illustrate a lyric I always misunderstood.

I once mused that the lyric was meant to be understood in two ways.

One as the often misheard, "Cross-eyed bear" to reference a cross-eyed bear David gave her that turned into a symbol of her anger towards him.

And the other as the proper, "Cross I'd bear" referring to the burden she would bear due to all of his incessant woodchuck voices during sex.

Yeah I always figured it was perhaps literally a little stuffed animal whose eyes looked a little crossed.
