It's hard not to be. There is so much great wine that is really affordable in Italy.

No idea. You could try tweeting Surly if you've got Twitter. They're really responsive.

Had Sixpoint Sensi Harvest Ale last night. It was actually pretty tasty.

I wonder how well this works, and how many looks you would get walking into breweries with it

I bet it works completely fine and I think it's absolutely brilliant. Heard about it a couple weeks ago.

I concur although most of the growlers I buy don't last long enough to worry about losing pressure!

I've never been a fan of growler beer because of the loss of carb. I've had variation from place to place. I can fill it at one brewery and by the time i get home and open it there is already substantial carb loss, or enough for me to notice that something isn't right. A 64oz growler will be consumed in 1-2 days but to be able to have it force carb'd so that it holds better is ideal for me.

That being said, I will likely never buy one of these devices because I typically don't get growlers. But if I were a regular growler filler I would definitley pick this up.

All the more reason to pound that growler ASAP!

I don't fill growlers much any more mostly because economics. The prices here aren't worth it unless the beer is phenomenal which typically means they won't fill growlers anyhow.

That's why I only buy 32 oz growlers, reasonable to kill in one sitting no matter what.

I have basically the exact same system that attaches to a 5 gallon corny keg for homebrewing. Allows me to take the keg to parties and such without the huge CO2 tank and draft tower - just uses an 8gram CO2 cartridge like you'd use in a pellet gun. Works great.

Pretty cool idea for a growler, particularly for a 128 oz (never seen a gallon growler before though - doubt places have fill prices for one). 64 oz. is pretty easy to crush on it's own.

In general though, I think a 32oz. Crowler is the way the industry should go for transporting fresh draft beer.

A store just opened within walking distance of my house that has 30 lines and sells 16oz. growlers. I never heard of ones that small, I will be taking advantage however!

32 ounce growlers are the deal. If not sharing with a group a 64 ounce doesn't work well with my beer ADD

having a fun tim thinking of beers for the MBB, returning to some old classics (to me) this next week or two and trying some newer things to decide what to send. After a bit of a beer vacation I'm back in the game!

My county just recently passed a law allowing liquor stores to do growler fills. While it has been quite the treat to get fresh beer from several local shops, be weary about a store that has 30 lines! Number 1, I would be weary that so many lines are consistently cleaned. Number 2, unless the shop is a beer supermarker (i.e. State Line Liquors in Elkton, MD), I'd be weary about the frequency of turnover (and thus fresh beer!).

3 of the 4 shops that do growler fills in Harford County, MD have 10-12 lines and they seem to have a complete turnover in a week's time. There is one well known shop that chose to go with 30 lines and after a month since the growler law took effect, they still have 60-70% of the same stuff on tap as when they started doing fills. Not saying your local shop won't succeed, just forewarning you about the potential downside of multiple taps! My advice is to keep close tabs on their draft list to see how often beers are rotated in and out. Most shops also provide samples as well, which can always give an indication of freshness. All in all, love the growler fills....hope you enjoy and get to try some great beer fresh!

Basically you just need to be following the thread so that when the MBB is discussed again you can add your name to the list. It's always great to have new people on board!

I totally agree with you 30 is a lot, it will be interesting to see how they manage things. The other place I go go has 6 lines and they really do a good job with events and keeping things interesting. But for now I'm excited for the variety and wish them luck!

This is a pic from their opening weekend. If that kind of pace is kept up they should have no problems. I'm sure there will always be a few lines that sit. But us Milwaukee folk sure like to drink beer....http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...ed719de892.jpg

Also, you don't have to necessarily wait for the next MBB if you want to try something new. There's some pretty decent trade activity that goes on in this thread, so if you have something awesome you're willing to trade and/or something special you're in search of, just post in here!

Also, you don't have to necessarily wait for the next MBB if you want to try something new. There's some pretty decent trade activity that goes on in this thread, so if you have something awesome you're willing to trade and/or something special you're in search of, just post in here!

Excellent! I went to the release party for Retribution last week at the Bel Air DuClaw and from what I hear, they have Gridlock on tap as well. I may have to take a couple of growlers over there and get my fills lined up for the weekend! Haven't heard of that Sly Fox brew before, but that sounds good as well. Will have to keep an eye out for it at my local shops.

    Thanks,
    Scott

I just saw on BA that it's being distributed this week. I'm hoping to grab a fresh hop IPA to send you today. Let me know if you strike out on Darkness and I'll include a bottle.
