Dreams of our Fathers is the one song from Everyday that they haven't played live. It's a great song, but from what I can gather, Dave can't play the riff and sing at the same time because they're both very complicated.

Simple solution: have Timmy play the lead on acoustic and let Dave sing and/or play rhythm.

Why not, right? Before this band goes out, I want one live version of DOOF! What say you? Can we make this happen?

DOOF is one of, if not the best, song acronyms.

The second it was announced that Tim would be back, this discussion began. Sorry to burst your bubble, but literally everyone has thought of this before now haha.

Also, why would Tim play acoustic on this song when he plays electric on everything else and the song was written on an electric?

While O'll agree it'd be cool to see it pop up, DOOF is awful and it stole a part of Little Thing that I only want to hear with Little Thing.

One of these fucking days they're going to play DOOF! I don't know how, I don't know when, but they're gonna do it. They're well aware of the fact that they've never played it live, and they know the kind of discussions we've had about that fact. It's one of the last tricks they have up their sleeve... I think now is the time to use it. Or... they can just play Seven some more...

Can't be much harder than Rhyme & Reason or Rooftop.... very similar guitar lines in the verses. Its the vocal delivery/rhythm that could be problematic.

Yeah, there was a soundcheck (can't share the recording because it's IEM) and struggled with the vocal delivery.

They need Tim to play the guitar part and they probably need a keyboard player to play this properly. This song is probably something they should keep for special guests like Peter Greisar or Butch Taylor.

I've always day dreamed of Ed O'Brien/Johnny Greenwood guesting on this.

Is it really though? Its really repetitive, and the chorus is pretty lackluster.

I don't think they are. I'm pretty sure they think it sucks, wish it had never been part of the album, and would just go away entirely. It might be a difficult song to perform, but I'm sure lots of their songs aren't easy. I think its due more to it being not even remotely worth the effort.

I completely agree, plus Little Thing would bring both the quality and "the rarez!"

It does seem possible maybe they are just waiting for which year of concerts to play it. Rashawn would have some parts mixing the parts of the keyboard in the studio version and some new parts! I do agree that this seems like a song that could get really big in an actual live setting, the Everyday studio sound has unusual proportions.

As far as whether Dave could sing the chorus it is very possible that he can work out how to do it reasonably with his vocal coach.

The difficulty is singing the really fast lyrics while playing the quick verse riff. It just takes practice.

He could simplify the verse by playing chords instead. He frets 3 strings (or 2 strings and an open one) while playing it. So you can get away with some quick down strokes over the chord shapes you make, and it sounds fine.

The time and effort it would take to whip this song into performance level would be better served working on just about anything else including but not limited to
