Recording Equipment Help

I'm looking to get like a system that will let me record music. Something I can maybe even hook up to my computer or some software or whatver. I'm just looking for the best one and I need some advice on what I should get. Also, possibly something to record my own live shows. Like a multi-track system that I could hook up and record myself upon.

All in all, something I can record a studio cut of and a live cut of. You know what I mean. I'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff so if you guys could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Recording Equipment Help

I would check out some multi-track mixer boards, either 8 or 16 channel. They have ones that integrate perfectly with Pro Tools, and even some have usb/firewire ports. If not you'll have to have a Audio interface to get it to your computer.
