Not what I'm saying at all. I'd like to hear why they think he will for sure be suspended. Just saying "He'll be suspended" only tells me you think he'll be suspended, not giving any reasoning at all as to why you think he'll for sure be suspended.

And I'm not saying he's a martyr either I do however think any player has the right to a fair process, and every other player has had the right of confidentiality except Braun. I'd say the same thing if any other player was in this situation. But go ahead and finish my thoughts for me

It's going to be such an interesting year for the Cardinals. I literally have no idea what to expect. La Russa, Duncan, and Pujols have all been a critical part of the team ever since I became a hardcore fan. Just going to be weird to see all 3 of them gone.

My optimistic side says if Wainwright comes back strong and Carp continues to be Carp, and Garcia continues to develop, we will be in good shape. Losing Pujols hurts, but he really had a sub-par year last year, and Freese and Craig have both been great young bats for us. If Berkman keeps it up, Holiday starts to really earn his contract, and Beltran comes in strong, our hitting should be in good shape.

My pessimistic side worries about Berkman keeping it up. And although Pujols had a sub-par year overall, he was lighting it up during the 2nd half of the season when the Cardinals made their push. He batted .355 in September when we really made our playoff push. Also, just knowing Dave Duncan's reputation as a pitching coach has me really nervous for his departure. He's always gotten the most out of his rotation, getting decent starts from his 4th and 5th guys, and I'm worried about Garcia's continued development, as well as how Waino comes back from surgery, and Carp's age.

How great do you have to be where .299, 37 HR and 99 RBI and finishing 5th in MVP voting is considered subpar?

I think you guys will be right there until the very end. Losing Pujols hurts, but there's still a lot of talent in that lineup.

I just spent some time looking at some rosters.. Wow those teams will 100% lose 200+ games combined.

Orioles have zero starters if Britton is hurt. Zero

Not happening unless he rediscovers how to throw a fastball...

    I feel bad for them.

Four elite arms in the system in Matusz, Britton, Arrieta, and Tillman.

Two lost their fastballs, one is just kinda meh, and the other might be injured.

    Something isnt right.

I will be gambling on a lot of three team parlays including whoever is playing the Cubs, Orioles, and Astros

    From Buster Olney

    Quote:
The Theo Epstein compensation issue was settled, and the Boston Red Sox essentially got a B- prospect in Chris Carpenter, a 26-year-old with a live arm and a history of wildness.

Epstein is regarded as one of the great baseball minds in the sport -- I took an informal poll of about 15 GMs in the summer of 2010 about who they thought was the best in their business, and Epstein was the landslide winner -- and he helped to create millions and millions of dollars in business for the Red Sox. The Cubs envision him doing the same for them.

Boston should've gotten more for him, but the club ownership made a tremendous mistake by not getting a top prospect before he walked out the door, and remember, the Red Sox could have stopped this whole thing at any time by saying no. On Oct. 1, they had all the leverage, and they gave it away by letting the process advance.
I disagree with the assumption they should have gotten a bag of baseballs much less a quality player

    There's two scenarios

    1) exactly what happened. Sox let theo go to Chicago with promise of compensation. Might as well got a bag of baseballs, honestly. Chris carpenter a B prospect... Maybe on the cubs. Not sure we'll be seeing him anytime soon.

    2) John Henry grows a pair and tells theo that he made a lot of mistakes that were overshadowed by the success of 2 rings (one with Dan duquette's team) and if he wants to run away while under contract the organization needs compensation of an MLB player. Garza, mcnutt, Castro, etc.

Henry could've made theo stay under contract until next season when the cubs position (which was initially GM until it turned into president of baseball ops) is already taken. Henry was classy and let theo leave and take His dream job and Theo obviously forgot who made him who he is.

Prospect rankings arent based on the organization. It is also silly to think that the Red Sox have a much better farm system than the Cubs.

Keith Law has you at 18 us at 20. I think Baseball America has us higher. I think the same with baseball Prospectus.

I'm talking MLB ready Jonathan. Is carpenter more likely to be MLB ready for the cubs or the red sox?

B class prospect is bullshit. Sox have a slew of "B prospects in AA and AAA that are better than him

Actually they dont. He slid into like #8 on your prospect list.

Looking at some of the arms on your team he should be a perfect addition to your pitching staff

He is 26 and very MLB ready

Selig made sure there would be compensation because he doesn't want executives leaving when they are still under contract.
