Just bought my dad a bottle of '77 Fonseca for his 60th Birthday...I've had it once before and it is by far the BEST I've ever tasted and most likely the best i will EVER taste.

The family owns 10 wineries, 8 in Spain, 1 in Napa and 1 in Argentina. The two wines I liked the most were ones I'd never heard of before, Spanish influenced, a red called Tempranillo and a white called Albariño.

Beringer we really only went to because it's a beautiful building. I found it ineresting that while their White Zin is basically everywhere in California and is what they're really known for, it was nowhere to be found inside the winery.
I was just in Napa and Sonoma 8/19 - 8/23. I went to Artesa and Domaine Carneros as well. I liked both places. I was disappointed by Cakebread and Grgich, though.

Has anyone visited the wineries around Seneca and Cayuga Lakes, NY? We've been going to the Finger Lakes Wine fest in Watkins Glen for the past couple of years, but this will be the first time we will actually get to visit the wineries.

Assuming you're talking about the second attachment, (LED_Small), thats actually Ledson Winery located in Kenwood, Ca in the Sonoma Valley. Story is builder/contractor Steve Ledson was building that as his personal home, but when so many tourists mistook it for a winery and kept showing up at the front door, he decided to go ahead and turn it into a winery and then built another home elsewhere...must be nice

I've been to the finger lakes, but it was a long time ago and we visited 8 wineries in a day so I don't remember too much about it.

Good sweet wines. Not so good for reds.

That's funny. Bottega was excellent. It was recommended to us by a friend, and then when we were just about to get dessert, we were informed that my mom had called them and arranged to pick up $100 of the tab because it was our 10th anniversary.

I'm pretty excited about all the new wine paraphernalia my girlfriend and I have recently purchased for our new place together. We gave away all of our existing mismatched wine glasses we had between the two of us and purchased 12 nice Chardonnay glasses, 12 nice Burgundy glasses, and a nice automatic level style corkscrew.

I'm still looking for a nice fairly inexpensive decanter and funnel. Any suggestions? I don't really care if it's leaded crystal or not...

I just wasn't that impressed with their red wines and though their whites were good, I thought they were overpriced...mabye it was just the vintages they had available.

Target has some reasonably priced crystal...I'd check there.

They're definitely mroe well known for their whites. They make a fantastic Fume Blanc as well as a great Chardonnay.

We did purchase one of their whites...It might have been the Fume. Their chardonnays were good, but if I'm going to spend over $30 on chardonnay, I'll stick with Rombauer at $35.

I'll have to pick up a bottle of Rombauer, I've never tasted one. Personally for that price range for a Napa Chardonnay I really enjoy Pahlmeyer. Have you tasted it? Very classic Chardonnay.

Yep - it was the Fume we bought from Grgich.

If you like big, soft, smooth, buttery Chards, then you will definitely like Rombauer. It's also a nice place to tour/taste. I've never tried Pahlmeyer...I'll add it to the list!

Great opportunity for consumers to stock up on wine with prices declining:
