Answer: somewhat. It's definitely not great in the beginning, but it does lay important groundwork about the dynamic between the characters. Obviously we all know Bruce's parents' fate, but there are many more things that happen early in the season that come back around and even are continuing into Season 2.

The first few episodes are not that good. But it does get a lot better, they really hit their stride about 2/3 into Season 1 and I think it's been very good ever since then. Leaps and bounds better than a show like Arrow, for example.

Really, really good episode last night. Fucking awesome to see a live-action Azrael, even if it's a different version than we know from the comics.

It was also cool when Bruce watched Galavan escaping from the police...in the shadows he definitely looked like Batman. Really cool to see him sort of inspired by that. I thought they did a good job of capturing Bruce's sort of amazement and curiosity on him putting the pieces together.

Last night's episode was fantastic. Love how they're going to show Hugo Strange's method of monster-making by giving them "a story."

Yeah, really nice call back to a great Batman story "Batman and the Monster Men", where Batman is first exposed to supernatural elements and not just street-level/mob crimefighting.

Also a couple nice Mad Hatter references thrown in there. Would love to see that developed a little further next season. Jervis Tetch would be a great addition to the Gotham world they're building.

The way it looks, Jervis could just be that prisoner and they give him a different origin story. Or this prisoner is someone else and he's just a prototype for the future Hatter (Jervis).

    What was that ending

Overall good episode. Wish Azrael stuck around a little longer. I really like the way BD Wong has portrayed Hugo Strange, really reminds me of Arkham City in a big way.

This season has been awesome, and they are going to tank it with the return of Fish...

I would really like to see a time jump between seasons 2 and 3. Something like 2 or 3 years just to move the story forward.

Fucking Fish is the worst. I agree on the time jump, would also make sense logistically considering how much Bruce has physically grown up since the start of Season 1.

The finale was VERY weak for me. Expected a lot better, considering the overall decent-to-good and sometimes great quality of this past season.

It's been said in here before, but this show would benefit tremendously from a 3-4 year time jump in the narrative. Only about 18 months have passed in the show, but the kid who plays Bruce went from looking like he's 10 to looking like he's 27 in about six episodes this year.

So if they're recasting Ivy does that mean next season is jumping a few years? Was that ever confirmed?

Agreed. As amazing as Season 2 was, next season will get super fucking stale if they don't jump a few years and show a ruined Gotham.

That was a gigantic waste of time. It was 4 minutes of shot that happened last season and then :45 seconds of pointless clips from this upcoming season.

I guess I am in the minority in that I didn't like season two as much as season 1. I thought the end of season two was good, but I felt the show was lost for much of the season.
