Re: My Morning Jacket

We were drinking Boston before the Pearl Jam show and my brother insisted we leave to catch MMJ... I gave them a chance but I just couldn't get into it... just my opinion. And I never forgave my brother after I was told they don't serve beer to people under 25 (I'm 24) with out of state ID's in the TD Bullshit Garden. Argg I'm bitter.

Never really heard anything by these guys, then I hear, in my buddies car, a live version of Off the Record and I was fucking stoked.
I grabbed their live album Okonokos, but I was wondering what studio work you guys would recommend.

I like some of songs (Dodante especially), but they bore me a lot. Their live show was terrible, imo too. Crunchy guitar riffs and stupid drum tricks that were seriously out of place. It was like watching Radiohead try and act like Cheap Trick on stage.....

I saw them at Camden opening for Pearl Jam and hearing Off The Record really got me interested. Unfortunately, I havent gotten too into them since. I bought Z but I haven't listened to it too much, and I don't own anything else. Maybe i'll check them out some more.

when i saw them, i thought they were alright. cool to see eddie sing with them. only had heard their name prior to the show, not any of their music.

ran across z this past march and after a few listens i really am into it. just got the live disc this week and it's a decent spin as well.

"hey," the Christmas Curtain falls on lawbreakers who pave the way
for thoughtless folks like me and Jay who'd pay,

Gotta bring this thread back. MMJ could never get enough love. They are so fuckin' great....X-Mas Curtain is such a good song.

It was one song that made me an instant fan of the band. "Run Thru". The song is on their album It Still Moves. But don't download the album version, get the version from Okonokos, their live album that they released last year.

If that doesn't work, download "One Big Holiday", also from It Still Moves.

    Hope you enjoy it.
