Re: The Walking Dead (New AMC Program)

Im still not convinced Im gunna keep watching this. It's good, but its nothing special IMO. AMC shows are known for their character development. As of now, I really am not attached to any of the characters.

That was pretty unclear. May have been some kind of drugs.

Found the answer on IMDB; the comic has been going for seven years without an explanation so far. I wouldn't expect one on the show.

    Ah, drugs makes sense.

But what about that girl...she said something about her sister? Did someone leave in the 1st episode to go join with the other group of people? I don't remember.

do we have any idea how long it was from the time the zombie thing started to the present day? has it been a few days, a few weeks, or a few months?

im not saying its right, but the friend and the wife are in a survival situation and out of that band of survivors, they seem to be the only ones who had a relationship before it all happened. she's under the impression her husbands dead, and he thinks or knows his family is dead. since the beginning they relied on eachother to be optimistic when the other wasnt, they relied on eachother for survival. sex kinda just goes with it.

I don't like the way this sounds. They really should stick close to the comics, but it doesn't sound like they are...

just me or did tonight's episode suck? i was so into it last week but this one was a huge disappointment IMO. way too may predictable moments and cheesy lines. felt like a cliche zombie movie. the first episode was good because it wasn't. and i'm kind of starting to agree with som3devil34..not feeling the characters. not rooting for them at all. kind of how i felt with "flash forward". stopped watching that show after a few episodes. hoping this one picks up a bit. i'd rather watch Sunday Night Football i think

I actually liked tonights episode. Yeah, tonight felt much more like a zombie movie than last weeks episode did. But I think next week is going to be much more like last week in terms of character development.

Just give it some time to establish itself.

I loved how different the pilot was from normal zombie movies, but I loved how intense tonight's was as well. And not rooting for the characters?? I was on the edge of my seat the whole time hoping everyone (except the racist asshole) would make it out.

I am really happy that black guy left the racist asshole, but based on the previews for next week that racist dick's inbred brother is at the outside camp, so shit is gonna go down.

And to who said it was just "survival" that Rick's wife was with his former best friend, they can survive and lean on each other without him being a complete dick head and banging his best friend's wife.

Really, really like this show so far

The only thing I don't like is that Rick just like wakes up from the coma, is freaked out for all of 5 minutes, then goes right back into cop mode, ready to hack away at zombies?? Just seems a bit sudden. And he doesn't bother to ask ANYONE what has happened, or how long the outbreak has been going on?? Just a little strange, but oh well

I agree with some of you guys in that this hasn't been the strongest opening to a series so far, but it's pretty damn entertaining.

Gonna keep watching. I hope Rick's partner gets fucking whomped next Sunday. I understand the concept of moving on but A) your partner's wife man? and B) could it really have been THAT long that he was in the hospital for? Someone would've had to change his IV, etc. You can't live through a coma without any supervision forever.

i dont know. based of other AMC shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men I figured they'd be doing a better job with writing, character development and filling holes. last night's episode reminded me of CSI: Miami or something. Where that main cop guy is always throwing out some humorous witty one liner to describe a bad situation. it didn't feel real at all. that's what i loved about the first episode, it was a zombie movie that actually felt real.people were flipping out instead of taking the time to come up with something cool to say. big pet peeve haha

I know what you mean, but this is also based on a comic book. So you're going to get some one-liners and surreal crap going on as opposed to pure realism.

Umm...no offense, but have you watched the show?? It has taken forever to fill in characters' pasts, and we still don't know everything. This last season was the 4th, and we finally got a glimpse of how Don got his start at Sterling Cooper. We still don't know almost anything about Betty's past, or Sterling's beyond the fact that he was kind of handed the company as his father is the "Sterling" that's on the door.

It's great to keep the viewer guessing, and I like that this show is doing that so far, but I do agree they should fill some things in at some point. Like who really wouldn't ask someone, at some point during a zombie apocalypse, how the fuck it started and how long it had been going on?

    I'm always right.

But for those of you saying they aren't sure how much longer they will watch...you might as well just finish the season since there are only four more weeks left.

Why the hell are there only 6 episodes?? Every AMC show prior has been 13 eps a season right? Even Rubicon had 13

I believe they didn't order 13 for a number of reasons

1.) weren't sure if it would be successful
2.) costs a lot to produce. I'm pretty sure it is more than both BB and MM.
3.) Rubicon wasn't as big of a success as they hoped for, so they cut back

also, it was going to be sort of a mini series before it evolved into a full show

But I've read new interviews saying if (more like "when") there is a season 2, it will be 13 episodes due to the huge success.
