I think Sirius is going to play the last show, though maybe not live.

Thought I heard something about it in Allison's car earlier in the week.

Man, I'm really glad I got to catch them a handful of times. Awesome band. Gonna miss having them on the circuit. Whether it was Duane & Dickey or Warren & Derek, they had some of the best guitarist in rock music.

I grew up on The Allman Brothers as they were my dad's favorite band. I hear his story about seeing them front row at the Kentucky Derby in the late 70's all the time and you can tell its one of his favorite memories. I'm so glad I got the chance to see a handful of Allman Brothers shows with him at Walnut Creek over the years.

Such a shame they are wrapping up their touring career. So many good times seeing them at the Beacon, Radio City, the Meadows (or whatever they call it today) and Mohegan Sun! Outside of DMB I have seen the ABB more times than any other band and NEVER had a bad time or lousy setlist!

In Memory of Elizabeth Reed from At Fillmore East might be the greatest live song ever. This thread should always be bumped.

They are pretty amazing. Given your taste for the Dead, Phish & Mayer, you should definitely be a bigger ABB fan. Fillmore East is definitely a Top 5 live album of all time.

Reading about Bill Graham retelling the first times the ABB came up to the Fillmore East is fascinating. They were basically unknowns and out of nowhere they became the big name there.

It's funny how that's all the "great" bands of the 60s/70s were. Basically unknowns then almost overnight they were huge. Just finished reading the Kiss early years bio and that's kinda how they were. Unknowns then "Alive!" came out and they were selling out arenas.

Right? It's incredible how just playing a certain place made you overnight (literally) rockstars. Every night at the Fillmores were pretty much sold out.

There's a tidbit in Graham's biography where he discusses the greatest compliment he ever received. He's using the urinal at the Fillmore West and two kids come in and start talking and one asks the other "Who's playing tonight?" and the other responds "It doesn't matter man, it's the Fillmore, you know it's going to be good."

That's awesome and so true. If I'd been alive in the time and around one of the Fillmore's I would've just tried to get a season pass. Any show they had was epic. I love seeing old pictures of the marquee because it's like every single band is now legendary but when the image was taken they were struggling artists and couldn't afford to feed themselves. The 70s were such a cool time for music.

Went to Rose Hill today and saw Duane's and Elizabeth Reed's graves. Very cool. You'll definitely get some chills if you are a fan of the Brothers. If you're ever in Macon or heading South on 75 stop by and check it out. They're not hard to find at all. Tried to attach the photo from my phone but idk if that'll work on ants

I really miss these guys. Wish they were still touring. Wish Duane was still living. Rock 'n' roll just ain't what it used to be.

A lot of talk these past couple days about Gregg entering hospice. Hope it's not true. He clearly isn't healthy, but damn.
