Weird how Nora's back was constantly needing scratching.

Nora is a dog confirmed.

OK, I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. The way they talk about things it makes me think I missed something.

they do tend to kinda sweep those little storylines under the rug, which does tend to frustrate me sometimes since typically my favorite thing about tv shows is the history that characters have with each other

We're in Australia for 5 seconds and we have a kangaroo with didgeridoo music. Are there any places that get cliched to death on screen more than Australia and New Orleans?

you mean this latest, second episode? I thought it was pretty clear they were in Jarden. The very first image you see is the old dude who lived up on that tower thing in the middle of town, him falling down and dying, and the overlap dialog is Nora doing the "departure insurance" test on his widow. We saw his widow last season (Brett Butler) but didn't know til this episode she was connected to that guy.

btw, I loved that they already dealt with that moment we saw in the trailer, of Nora getting the call by the "third party" asking about seeing her kids again. I remember talking to someone who thought that was going to be the very last moment of the finale.

I'm liking season 3 so far. A lot of shocking incidents already. They also seem to actually be taking the time to answer most of the questions they keep creating.

You mean the scene from 1844 about the flood never coming? I assumed it was taking place in the U.S., but not sure it matters either way.

last night was a little rough, didn't think it was all that compelling. I was disappointed in the "want to see your kids again?" storyline, I hope they expand on that a bit

I believe it was about the Millerite Movement. The preacher William Miller believed he knew when the second coming of Christ was going to happen

Something about faith, and the similarity to the Guilty Remnants

Interesting, I know nothing about religion so this is insightful.

yea here's two other brief touches upon "The Great Disappointment", the story of the Millerites, one from when it was covered in the Stephen Fry-hosted UK quiz show "Q.I.", secondly when it was quickly referenced in an old "House" episode.

That was a hell of a boat ride.

So during this episode, they were playing a Jewish prayer called Ein Keloheinu.

Here are the words in English:

    there is none like
    who is like
    we will give thanks to
    you are
    our God
    our sovereign
    our ruler
    our savior

    From Wiki:
Ein Keloheinu (in Hebrew: אֱין כֱּאלֹהֱינוּ, "there is none like our God") is a well known Jewish hymn. Orthodox Jews pronounce it as Ein Kelokeinu [1] when referring to it outside of prayer, in order to avoid taking the name of God in vain or otherwise violating the sanctity of reverence to the Almighty.

maybe possibly enlightening if it turns out that guy's story is true. We'll see if he survives the lion attack.

I thought they were trying to say, "wow I bet you kinda believed him" while a lion rips him to shreds. Idk though cause I didn't consider a possibility that he survived.

I don't think that guy was really God. I think it was just what Matt needed to hear though whether he was real or not.

For whatever reason, I never really enjoy the episodes that focus on Matt. Maybe it's just because the religious overtone is too on the nose when he's the focus. He's also really self-righteous, which rubs me the wrong way.

that's exactly what I was thinking

the interesting thing is what matt thinks about it. it SEEMED like he was saying "yeah, that's the joker I was talking about, can't believe people thought he was god"

It made me wonder if he was squashing him out of pure anger against him or if the motive of "I want my religion to be the only one" and that so many others believed him came into play. Surely it did.
