Re: Official VIRGINIA BEACH 2016 Thread -June 17th
i've never seen the lawn overflowing to the point that you had to move somewhere else. i've never done lawn for dmb here, but i did do it for zac brown band a few years ago. it's an average lawn, sound isn't the best, and i can only imagine how the crowd would be for a dmb show. but then again, if you're with a group of friends, you probably would be fine. i'd head into the venue maybe half an hour before showtime to secure a good spot on the lawn.
the city of VA beach LAW is no tailgating, period. Now, if you're responsible and use solo cups, you'll probably be fine. You'll see the typical tailgate stuff, some people will be playing cornhole and throwing frisbees and stuff, but it's not a full blown tailgate like you're probably used to. i've never had an issue, if you're of age and you're unlucky enough to get singled out by a cop, they'll probably just make you pour it out and be on their way. i usually hang with my friends in the pit line, and everyone just chills and uses solo cups - never had any issues. so drink at your own risk i guess? i might skip the grill if i were you, but i've seen people do it.
traffic is a clusterfuck for this venue, more and more so the closer you get to showtime. last year it was raining, and they opened the lots a little later than usual, so traffic was backed way up from the get go. you know VA traffic can be unpredictable and usually it just flat out sucks. my advice would be to get there around when lots open, or a little earlier.
hope that helps
