DMB @ Woodstock '99

I have been a huge fan of DMB's performance at woodstock 99, and I have never really heard/seen much discussion on this setlist on this board before so I decided to start a thread.

The setlist is:
#41
Two Step
Too Much
Rhyme and Reason
Don't Drink the Water
Trippin Billies
All Along the Watchtower
Ants Marching

Even though it is only a 8 song setlist, I feel that this is one of their best performances. All of the videos from this concert are on youtube, and they are all on my favorite list because they are all classics. I just feel that there is a extra passion coming from each person in the band. I cant even imagine what its like to perform infront of that many people.

Does anybody else have any comments about woodstock 99?

is there an awesome tape of this by chance?

i noticed concert vault has a very nice quality recording on there but you cant download it like the soldier field 2000 show, you can only listen to it on your computer if you're a member? whats the deal with that? why wont they let you download it? any good way of ripping that audio without losing any quality?

    thanks

Nothing will ever beat DMB in their prime, IMO. There's just something special about this. I saw them in Dallas two days prior to this (my first concert) and so these videos bring back so many memories.

Woodstock 99 brings back so many memories even though I wasn't there. I just remember having like 20 friends ove to watch it and smoke and drink. Such a fun weekend even from the comfort of my living room.

They were so good that summer. I saw them at Mile High a few days before this show and they were just absolutely at the top of their game. Playing the greatest hits to a huge crowd must have brought out their best.

That was my first show. Shame we never got "Spoon" with Alanis there but still mind blowing show.

I remember watching this gig live on Pay Per View. Just watched again tonight for the first time in years (thanks for the link to the great audio/video quality, @KitKatRaven41). Really amazing performance that still holds up 16 years later. That Two Step... just, wow.

I had a lot more fun at '99 but my seats were really good and at '00 I was like in the last few rows. Either way-both superb sets.

One of my favorite performances from the band. Definitely my favorite #41, and one of my favorite versions of Two Step, just behind 6/25/08. That Watchtower is awesome as well.

My brother's friend video taped the show for us on Pay-Per-View and I remember being so stoked to pick it up. That was the very first DMB performance I ever had on video. Such an exciting time to be a fan. I had just seen my first show the summer before and just couldn't get enough. The whole next year was so exciting because I was learning about bootlegs and tapes, Listener Supported came out...great memories. Newer fans have no idea what it was like back then. You couldn't just hop on YouTube and watch a show, or stream live shows online. Back then it was GOLD to have that VHS of the Woodstock performance.

    Re: DMB @ Woodstock '99

I was there and I have a mixed bag of memories of both the weekend and DMB's set.
First the weekend: it was hot as fuck. The place was not the right venue for this style of event. Food and beverage were overpriced as FUCK! Funny story: this weekend is when I started drinking beer. I was 19 and I used to hate the flavor, but the beer that the people I was with brought was far more economical than water. The overflowing portable toilets looked like something from a post apocalyptic world. The line-up was sort of all over the place and looking back, the aggressive bands of the day (who I liked) made an event of super high testosterone which is what lead to the fires on Sunday. I think the poor conditions, dehydration and make up of the crowd made it inevitable.
Not to mention that I wore a pair of shoes that were a size too small and broke up with my girlfriend (who I went with) on the ride up from Jersey (talk about uncomfortable).
But Korn was a sight to see. The crowd flowed up and down as they played and it really looked like the ocean from my vantage point. Really cool shit.
But there were some really great performances that weekend: the best in my opinion being: DMB, RATM, Bush (believe it or not), Metalica, Willie, Everlast and even Creed. I didn't make it to the other stage much so I don't remember the smaller bands all too well.

On to the band: Simply amazing. I had been a fan of the band for a few years, but my uber fandom was a year or two old. I had been to some shows and owned some bootlegs, and they were the reason why I went (with Rage being a close second). Their ability to make their sound fill such a large area was far superior than the other bands. The sounds that came from Offspring was not music, plain and simple, and that was a problem all weekend even with milder acts like Alanis.
I went with 4 people and none were fans of the band. Yes the (recently ex) gf heard a lot of it around me and loved the poetry in songs like Nancies and Two Step, but was not a fan. But after the show they all respected them. I remember some dude that we went with was blown away by Roi playing multiple instruments on #41 and Carter on basically everything. And for the most part I think the majority of the crowd was that way. The majority of people there were there for hard rock but it was pretty hard not to leave impressed as fuck by the band on songs like Two Step and DDTW. Everyone had the band that they were there for and I was proud knowing that my band's live show kicked their band's asses,
Dave's nervous energy was on full display this night (Evidenced by the Johnson and titties comments). I think there's something very endearing about that. They were huge in '99 and he still acted like a child on the first day of school.
The weekend on a whole was a shit show. An overpriced, hot as fuck, blistered feet shit show. But there were great memories and moments of brilliance, none more than DMB's show.

Even looking beyond nostalgia, DMB in it's heyday was truly something special.

They still are a good band, but there was just something raw and unfiltered about them back in the day. They were special, that's for sure.

Thanks for bringing me back to these YouTube videos. How fuckin' awesome.
