Camden, but stay in Philly, take the water shuttle over

Also Camden shows were extremely lackluster in 2015 so I'm expecting big things for this year (it also poured N2)

Just a heads up, they built a baseball stadium in down town that changed the traffic flow a bit. Taking surface streets and parking may be different. One road doesn't even exist anymore that is between the old crown plaza and Hilton.

I am staying at the Radisson. Is it close enough to walk? I like tailgating in the main lot so doesn't matter much to me, but I'm just curious. I figured it was just a parking garage at the hotel.

Decent number of people stay at the super 8 right? How is it? Don't see as bad reviews as the travel inn

It's definitely a crappy ho/motel but it does the job. I've stayed at a few of them in years past and Super 8 is probably the best. Good tailgate scene in their parking lot as well - you won't find any of the obnoxious high school/college kids like you will in Mercedes or main lot.

Being that it's Hartford, you still can't escape the obnoxious. It's part of the amazingness that makes Hartford... amazing. The people watching is prime time goodness. Grab a chair, grab a drink, sit back and laugh your ass off. The best was a couple of years ago when some young jackass whipped his junk out to pee off the walkway leading inside of the venue, into the gravel. As he pissed, he proceeded to fall right off the curb into his piss on the ground. Classic.

Followed by what was sure to be a an afterschool TV special taking place in the parking lot right behind us.

Dear Laaaaawd. I wouldn't change my 20 years (this year) in Hartford for the world! Ha!

Do NOT do the Travell inn/lodge.

I contemplated ditching the room we got after the show.
Stuck it out until about 5a and then immediately headed home.

Fun tailgating, but that had to be the grossest hotel I've ever stayed in, easily.
If you're into prostitutes and buying random drugs out of your hotel room, it may be the place to be.

This will be my first time headed to see the band play at Hartford. My wife's parents live in Orange, so no need for hotels. Any cool bars within walking distance to the venue?

Also, just did a quick review of the last 8 years played in Hartford-- only one Halloween in 2012 and no Last Stop...whaddya think? Do we get both?! One or the other would be fantastic, but both in one night would be insane. Regardless I'm looking forward to seeing all of the new songs and hopefully Sugar Will and Break Free. WOOoOOOOOooooooOOOOo can't wait!!!

Honestly, with the traffic, cabs will not make sense. Stay downtown... Radissson, Hilton, etc. you can walk.

If you really want to go cheap, stay at the Super 8 which is on the other side but again you can walk...

Im not going to hartford this year, but theres a great group of dmb fans that get together every year at the super 8 hotel. Very open to having new people get together, drink beers, they play live music, yard games the whole nine yards. They usually post in the warehouse page but if you look around you could find them. If you can't find the link let me know I can give you there Facebook names who organize it.

Sorry if this has been discussed already, but Ticketmaster is listing The Heavy and Josh Herbert as opening in Hartford. Does anyone know if this is accurate? I was under the impression that there were no openers this year...

UPDATE... Just FYI... According to The Heavy's website, they will be performing at SPAC on June 11. So I guess Ticketmaster is stupid.

I would recommend the Radisson over the Super 8 in terms of cleanliness, etc. . If you stay at the Radisson, you can walk over to City Steam, etc. to grab some beers but if you want to tailgate, Super 8 is where you will find that. Radisson and the like - those are paid parking garages.

However, once you walk up and over the hill... you can just meet up with people in any of the lots to tailgate - main lots, side business lots, etc. It's really just a row of parking lots, small business, etc. where people park and tailgate. Even just past the Radisson after you walk under the overpass there's the free dirt lot on the right where there will be tailgating but cops are all over the tailgating at Hartford now so just as long as no one is completely stupid, should be alright.

Just comes down to preference really and if you are hotel picky... I'm a bit hotel picky. :|
