Re: **Official West Valley Utah 2013 Thread**

Just got the time off approved today to make this! Pretty excited, it'll kick off a week of greatness for me. Now, to find tickets and a hotel. Are any ants staying at a hotel near the airport who'd like to give me a ride?

Great! We haven't booked a hotel yet, but if we decide to stay near the airport, I'll let you know!

I'm getting stoked for this show...and still have months to go. First time ordering Warehouse, so I am thrilled with my two Pit tickets. As for rushing the rail, I have never seen a huge early crowd at USANA, so I am confident for those trying for the rail. Of note, GA Pit tickets are STILL available! Crazy.

Additionally, for those comments about the 2010 Setlist, you have to remember we didn't get a BW show, so that was nice for those of us who hadn't seen DMB since 2006. Also, we did get the debut of "Write a Song"...that's kind of nice, eh?

Here is to hoping for an awesome show...I'd love to catch some new favorites such as Gaucho and Drunken Soldier, but would settle for an awesome #41.

Looks like you should still be able to score a pit. Get on it!

where? WH instants aren't up yet, and I don't see it on ticketmaster...

edit: instants should be up next week probably, I'll wait until then and see if I can grab a WH pit. Unless you (collectively) think I won't need WH pit to get railed and TM pit will still be enough time? Only pit experience I have is Brooklyn and Gorge, and those I obviously needed the extra 15 minutes to get in early to get railed.

USANA Amphitheater sells their tickets through Smiths Tix. Find it through their website or by clicking on the tour date from the DMB website. I just checked it out and was able to pull a pit on the first try.

I can't remember if they had a Pit section last time they were here. I do know the venue has been empty for opening acts...so. Yeah. Wish I could help you there.

There was a pit in 2010, but I was in the pavilion. I'm sure you'll be fine to get the rail. If you end up riding with us, we plan on going to the venue around noon to ensure we get rail. I'm sure you'd be at the front of the line for general admission. And like you said, buy now, and you can still pick up a WH pit if they come available and that's what you'd prefer.

If you end up booking before I do, let me know. Maybe we'll book the same hotel. If you're down with heading to the venue early, you'll be more than welcome to ride with us so you don't have to get a car.

Once we get closer to the show, we ought to plan an Ants gathering at a brewery or something Monday night.

We plan on packing a lunch (and beer) and setting up our easy up at the gate to hang out under all day. Then throw it back in the car when it got closer to gates opening.

Heads up on the drinking.... beer purchased at a grocery store/convenience store is 3.2 and "real" beer/spirits/wine need to be purchased at a state liquor store.

No joke, WTF? 3.2 is worthless! Are the breweries restricted to a certain alcohol content too? Or do they brew the typical 5-10?

No the breweries sell full strength. You can buy six packs or growlers. Or pours if you are at a brewery/restaurant.

Nice. Good enough. We only really dig microbrews anyway. They don't sell any local brewed 6 packs at grocer/liquor stores?

Nice. I think we're going to stay at the Little America downtown. It's got secure, underground parking (so no hoodlums steal our Gorge shit out of our car) and is right next to that light rail thing. Let me know if you decide to book there too, we'll carpool.

You can buy local brews in grocery store, but it will be 3.2. You can buy full strength at liquor store, but you have to buy them individually priced. The cool thing about that is you can mix and match and make your own six packs.

And as far as hoodlums go, ummm, ya the hoodlums here aren't real hoodlums; however, I think it's a good choice to go with a hotel that has secure parking.

Just a quick note on the 3.2 beer business. Its not much more than a placebo effect to convince the 'righteous' people of Utah that the sinners aren't getting as drunk as they want to be.

In reality, the beer is measured differently here. It is measured by 3.2% Weight of alcohol, whereas most other states measure their beer by 5.something % Volume of alcohol. When calculating the difference of the two measurements, it is so small that you would have to drink 6 or 7 beers for the difference to catch up.

I have had to take bar tending classes and state-required 'sips and tips' classes, and every time they admit as much.
