Yep. First 2 discs are N2 from the Camden run, the third disc has highlights from the other 2 nights.

Just listened and this release does very little for me. The mix has its good points, but seems sloppy much of the time and lacks consistency. The set is not very good either. Dave does not seem to be into the vocals at all.

The bonus disc makes this release okay.

Jimi band intros, Billies and bonus disc are the highlights for me.

Any LLD reviews out there? Claimed to be one of Roi's shining moments, is it really a standout? Standout to me is along the lines of CF Haiti, 41 LT8, etc.

I love the mix since you can clearly hear Dave's guitar AND Stefan, which I find to be rare for a DMB release. One of my favorite mixes, I don't know why people are complaining.

As for the performances, I haven't listened to them that thoroughly, but that Jimi Thing is amazing! Roi absolutely kills it!! Dave's solo could be a bit more enthusiastic, but Butch makes it better.
That's another thing, Butch is great on here. Especially on True Reflections

Butch makes the majority of their songs sound better.

Keys > electric guitar for DMB's music.

I like the keys and all, but when Butch got a bartender solo, that song was just too long. I really had become so tired of Two Step, until Butch sped up his part in 2007. Piano can be a difficult instrument to really bring the kind of energy for a solo, and two step needs that.slowing that down so much just never felt right. Butch did some beautiful work on those, but it was long overdue for an overhaul by the time they did it in 2007.

so much right here. He was way too winded with those solos. The overhaul was a really nice change too. I especially love how they end Bartender now and that may not have happened without it.

Good thing about this release is that butch still had 3 years before the dominant change in playing style within the band.

I'm looking forward to the day Timmy leaves.

Aside from not being too into the vocal delivery, Dave's voice is also not very good. Nothing like Folsom or Listener Supported.

I am loving this release. When I first saw this announced I didn't think much of it, but never judge a book by it's cover. All I can say is ROI! A release like this just reminds me how unnecessary Rashawn is in this band. Carter also really stands out in this release as not every song is a fast in your face noise fest. I wish the guys would go back and listen to something like this and hear how great they sounded. The biggest difference from a show like this vs. a show from now is dynamics. I have said countless times that what made this band what they were was their dynamics. While I still enjoy the music these days I don't get excited about it like I used to. I can't remember the last time I heard the band perform a song that gave me goosebumps.

This day and age Carter seems more interested in playing as loud and as fast as he can. He takes away all the excitement when they actually DO build up to that power moment. A song like Bartender for instance. That song used to slowly build it's way up and up until there was the big moment in which Dave let out that chilling wail while Carter released a smooth single stroke roll and then BOOM! Then the band would hang on that excitemtn for a bit and then they gradually brought the music level back down. Now there is barely any build up and everything seems to be on one level. Carter's drumming also used to be so much more intricate. Great drumming is not defined by loud and fast. Some of the hardest and most interesting drumming is the quieter syncopated rhythms. You can also hear what everyone's doing on this release so well. I finally listened to Lover Lay Down and WOW. Some of those simple little notes that Butch is throwing in here and there combined with little bits that Roi is doing make for an absolutely beautifully flawless performance. The key is that you can actually HEAR them because not everyone is playing at level 11. These days Rashawn and Jeff seem more worried about having stupid horn duels that turn into Rashawn playing out of tune and as loud as he can.

Love this release and can't wait to listen all the way through.

Before I submit to Almanac, edits welcomed...

Lyrics for JTR (6.23.01, Camden, NJ)

    Come fill me up,
Oh when I'm dry and cold, when I'm emptied out,
My voice cries out, and I only hope you're the one my words will land upon,
I play my cards, and it's by the grace of what, that I play my cards at all,
Come fill me up, oh fill me now because I'm tired, I feel emptied out,

Rain, rain, rain down on me,
Again, and again, rain down on me

I believe I figured it out,
When I see you standing there I could only swear an angel, you came down,
To wake me up, oh wake me now from a dreamless sleep, sister wake me up,

When you go back to give, like you did,
You notice I take ya, I take ya,
Any more time, come on, forgive, a song to wake yourself up,
Got to know, that you're the one, you're the one to save yourself
In the middle of a ---

Rain, rain, rain down on me
Again, and again, rain down on me

I believe I see it now,
Above, with the dark, the light,
    Falling so where's this gone,
    I see it now,
Oh without the darkness where's the light,
    Without sorrow where's the love?

    You know, you go give,
    Some time to live,
You go, oh I take ya, take ya,
    Everybody dig, what the dig,
But you're gonna save your light on,
Everybody want, the love they get
You're the one who's gonna save yourself,
In the middle of a ---

Rain, rain, rain down on me
Again, and again, rain down on me

Rain, rain, rain down on me
Again, and again, rain down on me

the band just sounds so fucking good on this release. even Everyday sounds fresh and exciting, despite being re-written from #36 earlier that year. definitely going to be a show that's played over and over again in my disk drive.

They really need to release more shows from the 2000-2004 era. Just too good. Those years represent the DMB sound I know and love.

Also, I don't see anyone mentioning Waste from this LT. Great E1 solo cover by Dave.

At this point I think I'll only buy LT's from these years (and Winter 98). Though I can appreciate the early DMB sound, it just doesn't do it for me, and everythign from 05 to present day (except for June 08) just sounds unbalanced with either too much Butch, Tim or Rashawn.

This LT sounds phenomenal. 27 tracks that are slow, dynamic and performed perfectly. Oh and ROI ROI ROI. I don't even mind the Ladies on it.

In my opinion, DMB sounded their best between 2000 and 2004, so I'm all for more LT's from this era. How the hell haven't we gotten an LT from 2002??? I know this is more appropriate for the LT thread, but both nights of the Noblesville run (or at least N1) would be awesome:
    N1: http://dmbalmanac.com/TourShowSet.as...=58&where=2002
    N2: http://dmbalmanac.com/TourShowSet.as...=58&where=2002

The KKJ from the WH disc a couple years back is from N2 and it sounds incredible. Here's to hoping we get both nights!

That's a great year, but we NEED a 1999 DMB release. The only release is Listener Supported - in my opinion the best DMB record (including the studio albums) - and not a mention of that year even on these threads! Come ON, it's a year after BTCS, Dave's voice is "fully grown" and the energy is awesome!

The next release should be a (DMB) '99

2002 deserves WAY more appreciation than it gets around here. 2004 always wins out, but I'd argue that 2002 was even better. The Everyday songs took on a more DMBesque sound in the live setting, the Busted Stuff tunes were finished and polished, and the sets were pretty much flawless. After a year of question when Everyday came out it appeared DMB had returned to form in 2002.
