The former is what you want in a college athlete. The latter is what you want in a pro QB.

Pretty sure the first three are desired in the NFL too. Idk though I'm not a HS coach.

More than this was said, but loved seeing the reaction to Kelly now that we know he did indeed leave. However it will not be to the Titans.

This remained true. I find it really interesting that Lovie hand picks the GM. Then the GM never drafts a defensive player for his defensive coach, and does him dirty to keep the coordinator.

    Re: The NFL Draft

Draft is in a couple days, figured I would bump the thread get some hot takes goin...

Right now I got a overall top 5 of:

    John Allen
    Jamal Adams
    OJ Howard
    Malik Hooker
    Mike Williams

    Top 5 QB's in order:

    Mahomes
    Watson
    Kizer
    Trubisky
    Davis Webb

    Other hot Takes:
    McCaffrey, Cook, Kamara > Fournette

    Jabril Peppers will bust.

Being a Panthers fan, I'd love for John Allen or OJ Howard to fall to us at #8 but neither are too likely. If not I'd be OK with them taking McCaffrey even tho it kinda goes against my usual theory of RB's being a dime a dozen and teams shouldn't invest too much in them. Unfortunately there isn't any stud OL's in this draft that are worthy of a top 10 pick.

Seeing stuff about Davis Webb maybe going to the Steelers.

I really really cant see them taking a QB but I wouldnt be real mad.

Also I miss when the draft was an all day saturday thing.

Loved all day Saturday as a kid/teen/early 20s. As a married guy with a kid, it's way easier to watch spread out over three days.

I've had no fewer than 10 panthers fans independently tell me that over the past few days

watching with a big group of people, can't wait for gettleman to do it

I don't get why you would be that mad over your team drafting a Swiss army knife RB that can burn.

Yea I think McCaffrey can be really good, I like him. That said, any of these guys can be busts, there's so many factors that go into their success or failure beyond the tangible measures.

mccaffrey gets moved to WR within 2 years, then becomes strictly a PR/ST guy the following year

I would love to have mccaffrey on the panthers. not at the 8th pick. a top 10 pick should only be spent on a running back if he is an all-pro, every-down type player. at 200 pounds soaking wet (no chance he breaks two bills in-season), mcaffrey will never be anything other than a change of pace player.

if fournette is gone, as I fear he will be, try to trade down to get an OL or DL. to me Howard is a luxury pick for them right now and they have holes that need to be filled way before any luxury items are taken down off the shelf

This would be my ideal 1st/2nd round.

No way. No matter where he goes he's going to be a RB that will be motioned to the slot and create matchup problems. Even strictly being a WR isn't the worst thing in the world. Look at the problems Edelman creates for defenses.

I hear ya but I don't necessarily think he needs to be an all pro every down player to have a huge impactful. That's really not the way of the league anymore and McCaffrey fits the way the NFL is heading, getting skill players in open space.

I picture him at a better Darren Sproles, who imo has a ton of value. Creating matchup problems help gets other guys open and he has home run threat ability. 2 very important things for an NFL offense imo. I see him as a guy who will get 10-12 carries a game 10-15 targets a game. There is a lot of value in a guy who can do that.

This is what I'm hoping the Jets do if Fournette is gone by 6. I think they absolutely take Howard.

    Mitch Trubisky. Unexpected.

Why the trade up one pick? Confused.
