I played baseball and know it quite well. As an outfielder, you call the baseball if you want to catch it. They may have both thought they had a play but as soon as Beltran or Cameron decided they were going to go balls out for it, you call the baseball.
I understand they were just tearing in for it, but don't leave your feet without calling it.

I'm sorry, I disagree 100% with this statement. Now, you dont go diving into the CF when he is standing there ready to make the catch, but when the ball is in the gap, and you dont think there is a chance in holy hell the CF will get there you bust your ass to the ball and do what you need to to make the play.
I was a good player, but never played professionally in the minors or anything, college was as far as I got, but I can say that calling for it was NOT going to happen
