Lets say DMB does have a Keyboard player this summer....

What song are you looking forward to the most with keys on it again?

For me its either Sugar Will or Two Step. Both those songs are tasty with keys.

    A keyboard player...without a fiddle player next to him/her?

I'll be looking forward to all the money I'll be saving on not having to buy concert tickets, tailgating, food, beer, parking, gas, tolls, hotel...

Cause there is no fucking way I'm going to a DMB concert that is not a Dave and Tim show without a fiddle player on stage with the band.

    keys friendly tunes...
What You Are (quite a few ED tunes all sound better live with keys: WTWE, FTT, STDH)
    Rapunzel
Warehouse (once again... violin plays a big part of this song)
    Sugar Will
    Two Step
    Hello Again

sidenote: kinda interesting we haven't really heard keys/piano since before BW/AFTW era (save Mercy/If Only)... can't believe its been that long

Ill admit I don't listen to much of this era, but I know his seek up intro was fine to me on live trax 1. If it was anything like that, then its fine.

I think Butch did more good for this song then bad.

but i'll go ahead and check out some 2006-2007 shows with seek up

The one 2006 show that I recently downloaded with seekup was with Roi on intro.

Butch is fantastic on Seek Up. Live Trax 3 is amazing. He's also great on wh5v2, LT1 etc.

Yeah, this is the one thing I'm going to miss most about Boyd. But it's okay, we've got a bunch off old Seek Ups to listen to

If they do I hope its someone more oriented around the Organ like a Garth Hudson, Billy Preston, or Jon Lord type of player. I think that could add a lot so the more rock oriented sound that DMB has tended towards the past 10 years. I couldn't stand some of Butch's work hammering out little piano tinkles on things like Seek Up. And especially with Tim in the mix, there is enough harsh sharp sounds. They need something smooth that rolls through notes. Think Ray Manzarek on Light My Fire and now add that sort of vibe to Minarets. That would be a welcome evolution of the bands sound IMO.

Yea and that intro is fucking awful.

You can't even hear Dave's guitar with him hammering away at the keys.

So so bad. More of this, I absolutely do not want.

I'll have to go back and listen to a few, but I can't recall off the top of my head Tim drowning out Dave on a Seek Up intro.

    Plenty of other songs, absolutely.

When I think of Butch in the intro, I'm not thinking of him soloing, thats usually in the end. The intro has him adding the jazzy electric piano chords, adds an element to the Seek Up intro that is so natural to the feel of the song. One of their most Jazz/fusion songs, and Butch/keys elevates that.

Listen to the Seek Up intro on Live Trax 3, Matthew, you'll see what I'm referring to. I Agree that keys should not solo in the intro, that spot is for soprano sax all day
