Damn man, I'm really sorry to hear this. I remember in the early days of this thread you helped me out quite a bit so this is really disappointing to hear. At the end of the day I guess you just gotta realize you wanted different things and were at different points in your lives. It's scary to think this could be me one day. Feel better man.

Wow, I didn't realize it had been that long for you. Keep your head up and it's good that you seem to know it was for the best.

Yea...I just have to re-learn to deal. Morning one, and I'm alright. It usually doesn't kick in til morning two. The one thing is that it gets easier. Once you've gone through that first big one, you develop a sort of thick skin that allows you to deal with them in the future.

At least that's what happened with me.

Sorry to hear that B to the ryan. All things happen for a reason. I know that sounds stupid, but it's true.

It sucks putting yourself out there and getting a cold answer. I have done it a few times recently with the same chick and gotten squat. I have since retreated.

First off, sorry to hear about the break up. Second off, be glad it happened now and not down the road. It's going to be tough but it could have been a lot tougher. Keep your head up and hope the best for you man

Sorry to hear that man. I'm possibly headed down the same road soon. Not a fun thought.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I'm in the same boat. A year and change in, and my girlfriend meets someone else (backread if you really want the full history). It's a tough pill to swallow. It's been over three weeks and I still miss the hell out of her.

But hang in there and feel free to commiserate!

I think this is one of the biggest reasons I'm so scared of dating again. I do NOT want to go through another break up.

I think this is why I rarely make it past the second date with a guy. My standards have gotten so strict that I no longer put up with any bullshit I used to be "okay" with in my early-mid 20s. It's like I find deal-breakers early so that I don't have to worry about them coming down the road after I've invested a couple years of my life to someone.

I'm at the point now where I can't invest that kind of time for another let down. I have to be on point about what kind of bitch I am going to let in to my life next. I was reminded again by the attention whore I need to be more assertive in not being jerked around.

Girls and liars and cheaters 5 years down the drain, but I guess I gotta look on the bright side and realize I have nothing holding me back from attending every festival I can possibly get to this summer.

Sometimes I feel like this is the right attitude and sometimes I feel like it's such a shitty attitude. I can never make up my mind if it's the best or worst way to go about dating.

I mean, people are going to have differences, and waiting for Mr./Mrs. Perfect is a fantasy and a stupid one, but putting up with nonsense in a relationship sucks hard.

Sometimes I feel like it's better just to be alone.

Men and women are meant to coexist. We're meant to have sex and make more little men and women, but not to hang out and enjoy each other's company.

Just end up pissing each other off.

I disagree. It's hard to say it better than Clooney did in Up in the Air.

Woo...up in Green Bay and already met a hot girl named Libby that chatted me up and gave me her number at the end of the night. I might have botched it by not making an actual move though. Beginner's jitters.

I've never approached a "getting over" situation like this. She just happened to sit next to me at the bar tonight. Makes me feel better even if she doesn't answer when I call...probably not tomorrow, but thursday night yeah? I'm up here from tonight until Friday mid-day.

Trying to adhere to the two day rule despite only being here for only 3 days...is that dumb?

Trying to adhere to the two day rule despite only being here for only 3 days...is that dumb?

if you're only there for a few days, i'd say just call her tomorrow. i don't think the rules should apply when there is a time limit on how long the game is going to last. if you wait and she is busy thursday and you're leaving friday, then you completely miss out. calling tomorrow gives you 2 nights to do something.

If I get a girl's number and have a good vibe from her, I tell her that the two day rule is BS and that I'm going to call her the next day. I've never been told this is a bad approach.

Had a bad fight today, and she's moving back to Minnesota in June (which is causing tons of stress in a relationship that otherwise wouldn't have any). I've been searching for someone exactly like her for forever, and now that I've found her, it appears that it will inevitably fail.
