Alpine is certainly an experience. The venue itself holds about 30-35k people, so just being there with that many people is pretty cool. It's basically one enormous party over the 4th of July weekend (rumored to be the 5th and 6th this year, which would continue the pattern).

Deer Creek is also a great 2 nights. I've been there a couple/few times. I actually think it is very comparable to StarLake. Deer Creek and StarLake usually get pretty decent shows, so those are 2 of my favorites.

While Alpine is rarely/never a letdown, it can be like the Gorge at times, meaning that the extreme hype doesn't always equal the setlists...that would be my only one piece of advice. Other than that going to either one of the Gorge or Alpine is awesome for many different reasons, and both venues are great experiences.

You should check out SPAC if you get a chance too, just to take it all in. Any of those are pretty much the 'staples' of the DMB tours.

Saw Dave in Atlanta, Charlotte, and Charlottesville this year in addition to Pittsburgh - Charlottesville is a must if you've never been before. The atmosphere is electric. People come from damn near everywhere - flying in from across the country. It's crazy.

Depending upon dates this year I definitely want to try for Alpine or SPAC. Not to sound like a dbag, but if SPAC is the opening weekend, I really do not want to go for fear of getting AFTW filled setlists. The venue looks amazing, the atmosphere I heard if phenomenal, and I wouldn't mind getting that opening tour song (JTR cough), but other than that I just know that they might not do anything out of the ordinary.

I'm a teacher - and I always seem to catch the C-Ville Bug and have to lay out for a day or so. It's so weird how it hits me every year.

The lack of Starlake dates in the rumor thread is starting to concern me; especially with WPB rumored for the July 19-20 weekend.

It would be awesome if starlake closed the first half of the tour this year. assuming there are two halves.

Also fingers crossed its on a weekend

Im fairly confident they'll play here again

Meh, I'm not worried. Buffet just announced his Star Lake date for July 18, and the DMB announcement usually isn't too far behind the Buffet announcement. I'm sure it will be a Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday in June or earlier July like it usually is.

Edit: ^ When Star Lake closed the first U.S. leg prior to the Europe tour in 2009, they put on one of the better shows of the decade there, so that could be cool.

August 2007 was last time. But, honestly no one should be surprised by this. Sales were really down for night 1 last year. Pretty much all the out of cover seats were empty and tons of open space on the lawn. This was destined to happen. At least now it will be one of those epic one night shows. Scheduling conflicts could have happened as well. There is another show the next night at Starlake, Brad Paisley.

I have heard from someone who has connections to the venue that Starlake booking got messed up this year, which is why we've only got one date. Blossom is the day after, so that could make for an interesting two night combination.

That happens for every artist that plays at Starlake. Also, this happens at almost every venue in the United States. They hold tickets back and release them on the day of the show. Sometimes they get released a day or 2 before the concert.
