Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR (11.7.14)

Okay first of all, the following 9 reasons: Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Michael Caine, John Lithgow, Ellen Burstyn, Bill Irwin and now the latest Topher Grace.

Yea I know that the more you watch Inception, the more plot holes you can pick apart in it (though I still enjoy it immensely), and The Dark Knight Rises wound up being somewhat of a disappointing conclusion for some people, but screw it. This guy still gets plenty of my faith. Throw into that what little we know of the plot so far as just being about wormholes and alternate dimensions, etc, I'm absolutely fucking in. It's supposed to start shooting in just a few weeks.

Pretty early to make a thread about it.
    Topher Grace is a reason?

The movie sounds interesting though. I didn't care for Inception but I am a fan of his other work.

meh.. seems like there's been plenty of new movie threads started (and not just by me.. ha!) over a year before the thing comes out. Well that was just a way to put all the ensemble cast info together in one place, although yea I think when he gets the right project, Grace can really show some chops.

yeah Topher's probably a strike against Interstellar, if nothing else. Looks excellent otherwise, though.

Loved Inception and think it has stood up to multiple viewings, thought the Batman conclusion was fucking awesome. Looking forward to this and I don't have qualms about Topher Grace, I think he's picked his parts pretty well so far.

I mean it's not like I was suggesting Topher Grace alone puts them into being oscar contenders or anything, but I think he's overall capable enough, you sure as hell could do lots worth (and obviously we have no clue what kind of role he's playing yet, but just even looking at it from a casting director's POV...)

Don't know why people are making a big deal about Topher Grace. He's coming in pretty late to the casting process, I doubt he has anything more than a side role. At most, maybe a Simon Pegg-ish type role, but I'd guess something smaller. I've always thought he was alright, especially in terms of comedic timing anyway.

The rest of the pedigree is pretty damn solid. Will be big whenever it comes out.

Yea honestly that's certainly not what I'd intended at the start, more just that I was listing out (what's maybe final?) the whole ensemble cast by as far as the people most audiences would more readily recognize off the bat. So alright, most viewers will recognize Bill Irwin right away?? haha not exactly, but I pointed him out because I know he's been one of the most celebrated stage actors of the last couple decades (pure pop culture people would likely most readily know him from the "Don't Worry Be Happy" music video).

Anyway, while I realize I may not have the greatest and most logical reasons to, I can't help but to keep sort of coupling Interstellar here in my mind with the other movie Transcendence. Johnny Depp starring, I believe the main thing we know so far is something about connecting some crazy huge super computer to a human intelligence, but more perhaps it's because Wally Pfister is using it as his directorial debut. Pfister has been the DP on most, if not all, of Nolan's feature films, so...

I can't imagine the difficulty you would have to go through to avoid this. The director's name is usually all over the place.

Trailer for the movie, it was recorded in the theater, so view at your own risk, haha. The video isn't that bad though, looks awesome, more of a teaser.
