Not to nitpick, but the score was the main theme from V For Vendetta, which wasn't Hans Zimmer.

Judging by the trailer, it looks like a good amount of this film will be focused on the problems on Earth and that the space scenes will only come near the end of the film.

Or maybe that's exactly what Christopher Nolan wants us to think.

Dang, I was wondering about that. I figured it was his since the used his music last time. Great song though, definitely didn't realize it was from V.

In Nolan, I trust. Pretty stoked on this. Also noticed the V for Vendetta tone as that is one of my favorite movies ever.

I'm gonna hold off on saying that this looks great, despite the fact that Nolan's directing, but that trailer makes me very intrigued. This might be the first film I see in theaters in a couple of years.

Zimmer will be doing the score for this film, though, so you can expect that part of the film to excel.

I remember when any kind of word on this first got out, particularly the typical Nolan detractors would make fun by saying he was making a movie "about corn". But now that we know a little bit more about the story, it seems like it's the not-too-distant future where our organic reserves are in very short supply. We already know that no other planets in our solar system are compatible enough with Earth for them to have anything useful, so yea if there's a wormhole discovered out there, it seems to make enough sense that we check out some other options, if we're that desperate.

Everything is overhyped nowadays, but the director having as stellar a record as Nolan isn't really hype for it's own sake, it's a legitimate reason to be excited.

yea but don't forget, there's a still a full 3+ months to go before release. He's not going to give away too much more of the game just yet. I mean I still disagree with you that so far, especially this last one, the previews "do nothing", but I'm not surprised they've still been as general and in broad strokes as they have.

I'm pretty pumped for this movie. As much as I loved his Batman, I'm excited to see him launch his post-Batman career. Obviously he did other good/great movies before and during, but all anyone ever cared about was "When is the next Batman coming out?"

    Re: Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR (11.7.14)

Stoked for this one. Nolan get's a bad rap from some, and while some of his movies have hit or missed certain marks, I think he's come up with a way to combine high level, blockbuster entertainment with intelligent, well thought out stories. In that regard, no one delivers that kind of movie better. So a new Nolan movie is coming. They've got my money already.

But by the looks of this trailer, he's hitting on some emotions I don't think I've seen in one of his movies before. I like that he doesn't resort to some of the standard tricks of the industry to induce emotion. Weepy score, or slow motion to accentuate a mood. The emotion is there, and wether you have to have some personal empathy to relate or just immerse yourself into the story to buy in or similar.. it's just not done in a cheap way. There are two scenes that I think hit an emotional mark in his movies. One was in Batman Begins, when Alfred comforts Bruce after his parent's funeral. That scene was all Michael Caine, and I think it's beautiful. Another was in the Prestige. The scene where Borden and Sarah are arguing and she says she says "I know what you really are".. the arguing is disturbing and felt real, not like dialogue.. but the little girl in the hallway listening and Fallon coming to take her away and comfort her.. that scene floored me pretty good. In that case, perhaps it's a little personal.

BUT.. with Interstellar those scenes between McConnaughay and his daughter.. those exude emotion in a way I don't think I've ever seen out of Nolan before. In a trailer, it feels a little manipulated, but I'd bet it won't be that way in the film. For me, perhaps it's the nature of the material.. perhaps its that i'm a relatively new father and I can relate to wanting to keep your children safe at any expense. Either way, he seems like he's broaching new territory with this movie. The trailer is certainly the best out of any of his films yet, and I find myself a little surprised at how much I'm excited about this movie.

He is; I think it'll be much less "action" then his previous ventures though, and I wonder how the public at large will react to that.
