South Park Season 17

Only watched a probably one block's worth. Felt like the Alec Baldwin shit would have been funnier had they started lower and built to some of the more ridiculous comments.

The opening portion with Cartman on his phone and Kyle bitching about it was brutal. I nearly changed the channel after it kept going on and on. The Alec Baldwin "Shitter" commentary throughout the episode was funny and the only things I laughed at.

yeah, the beginning was the worst. I laughed a lot at Butter's scenes though

Overall a 7 for me. Love how they can mix 10 different social commentaries in one cohesive episode. Overall laugh factor was only smirks and small laughs though.

So-so. They threw too many storyline balls up in the air and barely connected the dots at the end. Good individual moments with Butters, and some of Cartman's stuff was OK, but to be honest, they could have built up an entire episode around his, and they probably should have, because that was as thin an A-story as I've seen in awhile. Why spend the time on Cartman and his conspiracy theory friends if you're not going to show them? And why use the NSA angle at all, if there was no vast, ridiculous South Park version of a conspiracy? Stuff got started up and then never went anywhere. I will say that I enjoyed the nice little dig at the Catholic church at the very end.

The show led with Cartman, I figured his one the main story.

It's not as consistent as it used to be but every season there are a handful of amazing episodes. The days of epic episodes one after another are over

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that was South Park writer/SNL alum Bill Hader doing the Baldwin voice, and it was awesome (left that out of my original post, but that whole thing was great). They don't post enough stuff around online about who makes Miami's best vagina sandwich...

The only part where I laughed was when Butters was talking about cutting a hole in a picture of Jennifer Lawrence's mouth and having sex with it.

Overall not a great episode.

Yeah writing an entire episode where 3/4 of the jokes are based around a semi-obscure video game was probably not a super great idea.

The Warcraft episode was funny whether you've played the game or not. This one is not.

When I first got my most recent cable upgrade, I discovered the Investigation Discovery channel and watched it for like 3 days straight, so I appreciated that, at the least. Shit is ridiculously addictive (although not terribly sexy, so the South Park parents are kind of messed up, but I suppose that goes without saying). The cable company guys was a joke that didn't get off the ground when it started and got no better through either repetition or nipple tweaking. I had no idea what Minecraft was until I saw the promo this morning and looked it up. When the cultural references start getting so youth-oriented that I don't know what they are, I'm thinking that I'm getting old.

this show has been progressively worse every year. Tons of good shit that they just dont use. I think they kinda freaked out like chapelle did and just took themselves too seriously

They've had a weird obsession on slightly obscure cable shows of a certain stripe the last couple of seasons, and it's generally produced mixed results, at best (the episodes "I Should Never Have Gone Ziplining" and "Whale Whores" both come to mind). I'm not sure why they're giving so much time to subjects that don't get a whole lot of mainstream play in the first place.

My guess is they dont want to do it anymore. That is the only explanation to me. They are making south park to make themselves laugh right now. No one else.

Thought it was way funny, big step up from last week. Then again, I have heard of Minecraft.
