Yea, Walt was such a bitch.

Mike's death troubled me more for the effect it would have on Jesse. Didn't really give too many fucks about Mike as a person (though obviously he was a great character.)

The only death that still gets me as I rewatch the series is Andrea's. Even though I know it's coming, and even though I didn't really care about Andrea...something about how unexpected it was the first time I saw it mixed with Aaron Paul's incredible acting after it happens....still gets me a little choked up

Yes. They found the very bottom of Jesses life several times on this show. I thought him being prisoner was bad, but when they killed Andrea it was just the lowest thing ever. Worse than Janes death to me.

Andrea's death is the one time the show literally made my jaw drop. I totally didn't see it coming, and it left me kinda mind fucked. Like I couldn't believe they really wrote that

What did you guys make of Hank's obsession with minerals during the beginning of season 4? Did that whole storyline have some type of metaphorical significance that I missed?

I always viewed the minerals as a metaphorical reference for how Hank felt people perceived him, and how he wants to perceive himself: Strong like a rock, unbreakable, without weakness, etc. This was during a time when Hank was both physically and emotionally vulnerable.

I took it more as Hank having some to be able to be in control of, if that makes sense. Obviously he had lost a lot of control in his life very quickly, and the minerals were something he could control (organize, catalog, etc)

Basically, they wanted his new hobby to show Hank becoming more cerebral, more thoughtful as he shifted into a new way of investigating Heisenberg. As his body has been rendered more inert by the shooting, he had to rely more on his intellect and the newfound scientific interest reflected that shift."

It's true that Bryan Cranston actually made sure he wasn't even officially submitted for a Best Actor Emmy one year because he was practically getting embarrassed he was winning so often, right? I wonder why he maybe just didn't make that the case indefinitely, I mean obviously since he got put up again.
