Eh, I found the first one entertaining (although I waited to see it on cable as opposed to spending money on it). I thought they had some amusing moments and it had a nostalgia factor so I enjoyed it for what it was.

I'll let you know what I think of this one in a year when it hits HBO...but to put it midly, I'm not expecting much.

The first one wasn't a good movie, but it was at least entertaining and the plot for the most part made sense.

The second one was awful... just awful

Anyone else notice the (presumably) unintentional implication that Obama is incompetent? The political guy who had direct orders from the President kept getting in the way and ended up ordering the Autobots to leave. His character was annoying and dislikable and his decisions ended up costing the planet a lot. But the thing is, he was under direct orders from the President to do that, several times he cited the authority of the President. And, if you were paying attention (which may have been difficult after about 30 minutes) there was a reference to President Obama.

Obviously, this film was far too absurd to be making a deliberate political point. I suspect they just didn't pay enough attention to the storylines and the culture references to realise that they made that implication.

it's not racism if they were two black guys, but since they were two "urban" robots, it definitely is.

I actually watched part of Transformers 1 for the first time this past weekend. I was drunk, on vacation, and didn't have to pay a dime to see it since someone owned the movie. Even that couldn't get me halfway through the movie. It was absolutely horrifically bad. I can't imagine anyone even going to see the seond one.

I enjoyed it. It served its purpose... I was entertained, and the CG was ridiculous. That said, is it a "good" movie (ie, the kind you might suggest your kids see some day)... definetely not. Not by any stretch of the imagination.

I had free tickets to see the first one in the theater. It was one of the only movies Ive seen on the big screen that I considered unwatchable. It was just terrible. The action wasn't even redeeming. Honestly, there wasnt a single thing good about it until the credits came on.

So Id rather be prison raped than see a sequel.

if my kids loved transformers as much as i did as a kid, i'd let em see it. i'm kind of surprised it got a pg-13 rating with all the cursing.

A few years back Transformers would not have been such a disaster, but the overall quality of movies in this genre have improved greatly. Batman, Bond, Iron Man, etc just blow this movie away. You cannot get away with no plot and big action anymore.

I really liked the first one and I was disappointed with this one. Based on the track record of sequels in the past few years (TDK, Spidy 2, X2 - all better than the original) I did have hopes. I think this movie was too rushed. It usually takes 3 years for a summer blockbuster to get made. This one was done in 2 years with a writers strike thrown in. I don't know why they rushed, the rights weren't going anywhere and it's going to make $300 million no matter what year it came out.
