    True that

It's why I'm not all about those expensive hotels close to the venue - I'll stay 10 minutes away from the show to save 50 bucks. That and I don't drink too much

Any idea how requesting works? I.e. if you request a certain level do they stick you with lower levels if you don't get it?

So excited! My money was on a West Coast show because 1. the winery is on the West Coast and 2. Dave lives on the West Coast.

Definitely going both nights. Contemplating the Premium Package, but geez, $300! Might have to rely on my fellow Ants to make both nights happen....

So excited - we are getting spoiled in the Bay Area! I was talking to somebody last week about how I was hoping for some D&T but I never actually thought they would come back to the Bay so soon.

I've heard Oakland is sketchy. I live in Chicago so how does it compare? I think we would stay on the San Fran side and take the Bart or splurge and Uber.

All I know is stay out of San Leandro. Well, at least 24 years ago when I was down there NYE for the Dead. Oh, and then the car crapped out when we were spending a day in SF. Had to take BART back to hotel(?) after midnight. Glad I had the mic stands as weapons.

worried that it is billed only as "an evening" with D & T. The summer tour was touted as a special evening, or was it a very special evening? buyer beware.

Booked at the Marriott City Center. Says its 1 mile from the venue, same street. Advisable to walk? There's a BART station right outside the hotel but don't know if it's worth it for just a mile.

Re: Official Dave and Tim Oakland 2015 Thread

Oakland is to San Francisco as Brooklyn is to Manhattan. It's gentrified A LOT but still has some dicey areas like any city - thought honestly ALL of SF is dicey. I have friends who've been mugged or had their cars broken into in the wealthiest parts of SF. Crime has no boundaries here, it's kind of weird.

Anyway, for out of towners, I would recommend staying in SF simply because there's more to see and do when you're not at the shows. Follow the eastern boundary of the Presidio and draw a line straight south - stay east of that line. Anything west will be cheaper but very far and residential (and foggy).

Transportation: you can do just fine here with Uber/Lyft. Bart is fine, too, but don't expect NYC level convenience in stops or DC level cleanliness.

Remember to check AirBnB as the options there can be way cheaper than a hotel room. Whatever you do, DO NOT stay in the Tenderloin!!

Re: Official Dave and Tim Oakland 2015 Thread

Process looks to be the same as this summer: guess will have to wait and see if you can opt out of the cheaper reserve levels for Oakland. They did add additional language strengthening their "no Premium Package transfer" position:

What are the different seat types?

The Warehouse offers tickets in multiple levels for certain events and throughout the entire venue. Members may choose their first preference for which they will be considered in the random selection process. If not chosen for their first preference in the random selection process they will then be considered for any subsequent level. When processing orders for a particular event the ‘first’ level is considered to be the first option available in the ticket type dropdown menu (visible once the request period has opened). Processing is done by level in the same order in which they appear in that list.
BEST AVAILABLE: Best Available offers members the greatest chance of being confirmed for tickets. The Warehouse allows members to choose the price level they would like their Best Available to start from. Tickets may be confirmed for tickets at that preferred level or ANY subsequent ticket level. For example, if a member selects GA Pit Standing, they may be confirmed for GA Pit Standing or the next available level of seating based on availability (this could be Reserved Pavilion or GA Lawn in an amphitheatre). During the ticketing request period you will be able to opt out of consideration for certain lower price levels, such as GA Lawn or GA Rear Field if you so wish. Opting out may reduce your chances of being confirmed for tickets to the show if Warehouse inventory is limited at higher price levels.
AMPHITHEATRES: Possible ticket types in Amphitheatres include General Admission (GA) Standing PIT or Reserved Seated Pit, multiple price levels in the Reserved Pavilion Seating and GA Lawn.
ARENAS: In arenas, the Warehouse may offer tickets in a 360-degree configuration around an end-stage. Possible ticket types in Arenas include GA Standing or Reserved Seated Floor and Reserved Seating in the Lower and Upper arena seats.
STADIUMS: In stadiums, the Warehouse may offer tickets in a 360-degree configuration around an end-stage. Possible ticket types in Stadiums include GA Standing or Reserved Seated Field with Reserved Seating in the Grandstand seats.

Package elements are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. NO REFUNDS will be given under any circumstances. NO NAME CHANGES will be permitted. Concert tickets will be shipped to customers on the date designated on the Warehouse Ticket Status page/Estimated Ship Dates. The included pair of concert tickets is the only package element that allows entry into the venue. Purchaser must attend concert event to be eligible to receive package elements. Purchaser must show a valid concert ticket and current valid driver’s license or state photo ID to claim package elements.

I really don't wanna be negative, but from my experience in NoLa and what others had happen to them as well, this won't be easy to get tickets for unless you plan on paying over face, as I'm sure the majority of people will be declined at least one night if you request two. So I'm assuming this will be a hard ticket to get too as it's about the same size as the Saenger Theater.

Why book hotels so early? I'm just curious for those who are booking now.

EDIT - didn't think about refundable hotels, I'm sure you guys probably booked refundable rooms and were smart about it. I usually don't spend the extra to book refundable rooms, I'm a cheap ass.
