Longest DMB Shows of All Time

Hey guys,

I posted this over at TDC but thought you all would enjoy this list I quickly researched over at the Almanac. We have already had two shows crack the top 5 this year. Check it out:

UPDATE: Lucca, Italy now takes the top spot with total song time of 2 hours, 54 minutes from this summer's European tour. Alpine N1 drops to second place but Alpine N2 from this year debuts at #3 on the list. The rest of the list is below.

Random notes:
- Longest show, including D&F and D&T is Dave & Friends - 1.16.04 - 3 hours, 1 minute with other shows from the D&F tour right behind it.

- Longest D&T show I found was 3.29.03 - 2 hours, 48 minutes.

- Weird that two of DMB's longest shows took place on the same day.

- Alpine is tops on the list with having three of the longest shows we know of.

- Of course this list cannot be deemed 100% correct as there are still a ton of early shows that we do not have recordings of. This is as correct as we'll ever get, I think.

- Thanks to the DMB Almanac. If I missed a show, sue me.

I am surprised Central Park isn't on that list... that show seemed to never want to end!

Edit: Ahh, CP clocked in at 2hr. 38min.... just below the others here

Central Park is probably in the top 20. It is 2 hours, 38 minutes. I set my cut-off at 2 hours, 40 minutes because there are bunch more shows in the 2hr 30minute range.

Just out curiosity, how is this calculated. Total song time? Or is it the total elapsed time from the first note of the first song to the last note of the last song?

It is. Which means time in between songs makes the totaly "on stage time" well over three hours for a lot of these shows.

i can only speak for myself, but personally I'd love to hear an 8 minute version of Thank You over a 1 minute version of #40........oh and a 4 minute version of Granny.........oh and a 8 minute version of Watchtower with Tim and the horns playing Stairway...........oo wait


still it's cool ya'll at Alpine get those long shows. Does Alpine have different curfew rules than other venues?? At SPAC they finished at like 10:59 and 45 seconds . Alpine was going til about 11:45 by my calculations. Also, what time did the band come on stage?

i was at alpine Night 2 and it was the best concert of my life. On top of a great setlist the show went on forever. I'll take a longer show over a shorter show with a few better songs. I pay to see the band play.

The band came on stage around 8:22.

You can't search for it directly, but you can sort each individual tour by total time and make a (relatively) quick list.

Lucca did have a double encore, that's the dealbreaker between that and Alpine N1.
