Tim's solo is absolute fire and Carter plays off him so well. Then there's the extended outro and it sounds like the roof is going to blow off the place. It's impossible not to get goosebumps every time.
Funny, a couple of days ago I was browsing through an old "best version" thread and saw you advocating heavily for this version, and now I see this. So, I downloaded it and it's pretty good. It sounds very much like the one from LT13. Maybe its intro is not as good and maybe its outro is slightly better, but in my opinion both of these don't compare to Hershey's. 6/27 is the definitive version and it's a shame it has not been released so far.

    Spoon - studio. Perfection.

    That's all I've got.

An interesting spinoff of this thread could be what songs are the studio versions the definitive, perfect versions for that can't be topped live.

I agree with Spoon for sure, and Lillywhite JTR, SUAD, Busted Stuff, and Captain are also that way for me. Almost every other song in DMB's catalog there is a live version I prefer, but a lot of LWS is the best for me.

Usually no one ever responds to me about this At least you gave it a chance! I've listened to both a number of times and while I think 6/27 is slammin', there's just an energy and feel on 6/25 that blows my mind. There are two moments when the crowd absolutely loses it during Tim's solo and again during the extended outro. 6/27 lacks the same energy, but what loses it for me is the speed. It's been a while since I've listened to it, but I remember feeling like 6/27 feels really fast and less together, whereas 6/25 has a better tempo and really allows great play between Carter and Tim. That and Tim's solo should absolutely melt your face off.

I think there may be a crappy video out there somewhere, but when I get home I can post the version from 6/25. My quest continues. Been pushing this damn song since 08. I think at this point it would be pretty impossible to change anyone's mind that has been digging on 6/27 for 9 years, but I'll always try.

Nice I would love to check it out!

There are better versions of Bartender but the one from The Gorge in '08 after burying LeRoi was great

Can someone please explain why the Hershey 12 shotgun is considered the best version. I love shotgun and have just never been able to pick out why that one is so highly regarded. I have always felt the spac from 08 was the best and is my go to version of shotgun.

just love the wailing and the outro.

Alot of shotguns tend to trail off and that one seems the most structured and complete version ive heard.

Not a Rashawn fan, but that's one of his better solos. I think Stolen Away is his Lover Lay Down. It's actually a pretty good song, and every solo he did was very tasteful and fitting.

That's one of his best moments in DMB for sure. Agree on Stolen Away too

He had a sweet solo on I'll Back You Up at Alpine in 2010 you may want to check out

Yep. For whatever reason they released it without the sax solo in the mix. Someone mashed up the taper pull and did a nice job adding it back in years
ago. I don't know if it's still floating out there somewhere. It's been years since I've heard it, so maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I seem to remember it sounding really good.

Crash - LT7. No other version compares. The horn solo fits perfectly. Not sure why they didn't make that a Roi thing after that.....

Bizarre. Never knew about this after all these years. I'd like to hear the mashed up version if someone has it.

Also, could you post the version of Two Step you've been heavily advocating for? Haha

Yep, that's my fave Bartender too...the energy in the break down is ridiculous and the vocals are so fucking money.

Watching it is even more fun:

Pretty much just go right to the 7:30 mark!

Those two wails at the 9:28 and 9:42 mark, doesn't get much better than that.

I'm still trying to find that Two Step. I don't see it on ants or dreamingtree. I may have it on disc somewhere.

100% agree with this. I lost my shit when I first listened to it. Wish I was there to hear it in person. Also, Blue Water off of Live Trax 20 with Warren on it is pretty much the only version I ever listen to
