Hoping for more electric work and a total rebirth from the folk-pop-recovery phase of John. From what I've speculated from interviews he is comfortable in his age now to say if he can do something really well you should do it while you can. Alluding to electric guitar work in an interview for a school in england (Oxford maybe?). This was a few years ago now. I assume he has logged tons of potential songs from before PV's release and more. He even called PV a sort of bonus album.

    Very Excited.

That's the Trio. If you dislike his pop stuff you should at least check out their "Try!" album, all blues.

Thank for posting that, I finally had a chance to sit still and listen to it. Mayer is a good sport with those gals in the front, damn.

This show was very good to hear. Looking forward to new stuff.

First time I saw him he was touring for promotion for whatever that first pop album was with counting crows in the early 2000's. I went for the crows since I didn't know about him at all and the girlfriend at the time was nutty for them.

So crows finished up and we were getting up to leave because girlfriend at the time was hot and uninterested in Mayer and I was stupid. He came on stage and opened up with some slaying rif before the band was on stage and I stopped to listen then got yelled at by hot stuff to hurry up. Wasn't thinking, put my hand up like "shut it" and just stood staring at the stage.

I remember that moment of looking back up the stairs at her and knowing we were just heading back to the hotel... looking back at the stage... looking back at her.

I made the wrong choice and still regret it.

    Hilarious story.

To the bolded, I saw a show on this tour as well! My second Mayer show - I think it was right before Heavier Things came out, because I remember he played Something's Missing and Daughters as "new songs".

That was also the first time I'd ever heard Maroon 5, who was the opening-opening act. I walked out of that venue with a Maroon 5 CD, and both Mayer and Crows t-shirts.

I could have seen Mayer at a small venue at my college and didn't go. This was like fall 2002. I only sort of knew him at the time. Really wished I would have gone.

I'm a huge Mike Doughty fan, and I went to see him in Madison, WI. After the show we were talking to him and he said he was opening up for a guy in Milwaukee and we should definitely check it out. I went not knowing anything about the headliner and saw Mayer in early 2002. Was a pretty cool show considering I had not heard one note of him prior to the concert.

So this may have been happening for a while but I just noticed it tonight. When you load the Johnmayer.com homepage NEW TOUR DATES pops up in red on the top right then quickly disappears. You can continue to hit refresh and see it. Yet it still can be seen only for a split second. Maybe some sort of announcement this week then?

If this happens, I hope he realizes how lucky he is. Pino, Steve Jordan, and now the Dead? Jesus. This will be incredible. Introducing his entire fanbase to the Grateful Dead. This would be so great for music.

I would go see it too but it sounds to me like they would be playing all Dead songs. Cool for a show, but a whole tour? Feel like we would be getting robbed a bit.

I feel ya. But this would be a Dead tour, not a Mayer tour. I'm sure John would do his band in the summer and hop on with the Dead in October or whenever.

The image of John on stage in between Bobby and Phil with Bill and Mickey behind them is just too much. Wow.
